The Sheep Dog Rag

Greetings my Friends,
Since I have been asked by a few what The inspiration for this publication really is and I have not said anything about it but twice, for the new readers I will publish again “On Sheep, Wolves and Sheepdogs by David Grossman.” It is an analogy of the human condition that to me rings so very true. My Dad said something very similar to me when I was in my late teens. This followed several other things he told me down through the years that also ring true to the analogy. He said people are like cattle and will go in any direction they are pushed. He said tell a lie often enough and it will become perceived truth. I guess you get my drift. Do not believe everything you see or hear, question everything. Most people do not like to think, they just do.
Last month I got onto our hired hands very heavily. Everything I posted here is true. I cannot believe that the people of this great country allowed our hired hands to take over this country. I guess I should have seen it coming but I guess, like too many, I had my head in the sand. Then there were many things I did not understand until I got bit. When I started checking things out I found that almost everything that our hired hands (elected officials) have done for many years is in fact unconstitutional. What our so called President is doing is unconstitutional and him being a constitutional scholar, damn sure knows it. But look at our history. What Lincoln did before, during and after the Civil War was unconstitutional. The federal government was not granted such power by the states. During the great depression in the late 20’s and through most of the 30’s many things were done that were not constitutional. The worse thing done was welfare. That is not Federal government’s area. It gave us generation after generation of gimmie people who would not work and milked the taxpayer shamelessly. Most of the white people got off and stayed off. However the black people had their lives latterly destroyed by the welfare state. Women had, I think it was 5 kids that they could collect aid to dependant children on them. Then they had another for insurance in case something happened to one of the others. When welfare reform came along in the 70’s(?) I saw a woman on TV screaming “I have a right to my welfare check”!!
How tragic! This woman and many others actually believe they have a right to what they have not earned. Where is this in the Constitution? Where is this in the Bible? It is not there! If you can find it please tell me where it is. One does not have the right to clothing, food or shelter unless one works for it. That goes clear back to Adam and Eve and the fall. How were they to eat, clothe themselves and shelter themselves? BY THE SWEAT OF THEIR BROW. Even if you cannot work you are not entitled to anything you have not worked for! Yes, if you are in need someone will fulfill that need. Not because you are entitled to it but because most people believe that they have a duty under the command of God to do so. So be grateful and try not to grab everything you see (be greedy). That is also the love most people have for their fellow man. I have been hungry and I have been fed. In my turn I have seen hungry and I have fed. Again, my father told me one time that not everyone who begs is really hungry. Do not give them money. For instance, where I grew up there were many wino’s. They would stop you on the street and ask for a dime to buy a cup of coffee. When they got enough dimes they would buy a quart of wine and get drunk. The test was to be “Tell you what, I could use a cup myself. There is a café right around the corner , so lets go and I will buy both of us one. I never had someone take me up on the offer. Bottom line though, My government employees have no right to demand I pay taxes to start with except under certain conditions such as outfitting an army or fighting a war. They damn sure have no right to extort my money I have worked for and then give it to someone who has not worked for any reason. The IRS is therefore unconstitutional. The tax and spend mentality is unconstitutional. Nationalizing our banking system is unconstitutional. Nationalizing our industry is not constitutional. Nationalizing healthcare is not constitutional. Big brother government is not constitutional. We must vote (fire) every one of our hired hands and replace them even in our city governments. Career politicians seem to me to only be a bunch of liars and thieves. Ours have all been bought and paid for by special interests from not only our own country but many other countries. We are in deep shit people. We must climb out of this cesspool of corruption we have created by not being vigilant and allowing ourselves to be brainwashed by the media, by our teachers and smooth talking politicians. Think about these two examples. One could be called good the other bad-or could they? Well over 80% of the people in this country are against abortion on demand. Yet we have abortion on demand. Why? Because the pro-abortion people outspent 2-1 the anti abortion people with the democrats getting most of the money. They voted for abortion on demand because they were paid to vote that way. The so called Gun Lobby outspent the anti gun groups more than 2-1 mostly to Republicans. They vote against gun control because they are paid to do so. What do their constituents say about these issues? It does not matter to these career politicians. It is just added money in their pockets. One side outspends the other by donating to their election funds. They repay that money by voting in favor of the donors. It is that simple. Name an issue. Name a government contract. It is all the same. 6 months ago I did not know this. Obama, whether a legal citizen or not is not for our country. He is an enemy of our country. As are most of the donkeys and a good many of the elephants. I am also going to republish an article about the axis of idiots in this issue. There is a local group starting up here in the area called VETO as soon as I can vet them I will advertise them right here and probably join them. ????????

On Sheep, Wolves, and Sheepdogs
By LTC (RET) Dave Grossman, author of "On Killing."
Honor never grows old, and honor rejoices the heart of age. It does so because honor is, finally, about defending those noble and worthy things that deserve defending, even if it comes at a high cost. In our time, that may mean social disapproval, public scorn, hardship, persecution, or as always, even death itself. The question remains: What is worth defending? What is worth dying for? What is worth living for? - William J. Bennett - in a lecture to the United States Naval Academy November 24, 1997
One Vietnam veteran, an old retired colonel, once said this to me: "Most of the people in our society are sheep. They are kind, gentle, productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident." This is true. Remember, the murder rate is six per 100,000 per year, and the aggravated assault rate is four per 1,000 per year. What this means is that the vast majority of Americans are not inclined to hurt one another. Some estimates say that two million Americans are victims of violent crimes every year, a tragic, staggering number, perhaps an all-time record rate of violent crime. But there are almost 300 million Americans, which means that the odds of being a victim of violent crime is considerably less than one in a hundred on any given year. Furthermore, since many violent crimes are committed by repeat offenders, the actual number of violent citizens is considerably less than two million.
Thus there is a paradox, and we must grasp both ends of the situation: We may well be in the most violent times in history, but violence is still remarkably rare. This is because most citizens are kind, decent people who are not capable of hurting each other, except by accident or under extreme provocation. They are sheep.
I mean nothing negative by calling them sheep. To me it is like the pretty, blue robin's egg. Inside it is soft and gooey but someday it will grow into something wonderful. But the egg cannot survive without its hard blue shell. Police officers, soldiers, and other warriors are like that shell, and someday the civilization they protect will grow into something wonderful.? For now, though, they need warriors to protect them from the predators.
"Then there are the wolves," the old war veteran said, "and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy." Do you believe there are wolves out there who will feed on the flock without mercy? You better believe it. There are evil men in this world and they are capable of evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep. There is no safety in denial.
"Then there are sheepdogs," he went on, "and I'm a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf." If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen, a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath, a wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? What do you have then? A sheepdog, a warrior, someone who is walking the hero's path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed
Let me expand on this old soldier's excellent model of the sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs. We know that the sheep live in denial, that is what makes them sheep. They do not want to believe that there is evil in the world. They can accept the fact that fires can happen, which is why they want fire extinguishers, fire sprinklers, fire alarms and fire exits throughout their kids' schools. But many of them are outraged at the idea of putting an armed police officer in their kid's school. Our children are thousands of times more likely to be killed or seriously injured by school violence than fire, but the sheep's only response to the possibility of violence is denial. The idea of someone coming to kill or harm their child is just too hard, and so they chose the path of denial.
The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a lot like the wolf. He has fangs and the capacity for violence. The difference, though, is that the sheepdog must not, can not and will not ever harm the sheep. Any sheep dog who intentionally harms the lowliest little lamb will be punished and removed. The world cannot work any other way, at least not in a representative democracy or a republic such as ours. Still, the sheepdog disturbs the sheep. He is a constant reminder that there are wolves in the land. They would prefer that he didn't tell them where to go, or give them traffic tickets, or stand at the ready in our airports in camouflage fatigues holding an M-16. The sheep would much rather have the sheepdog cash in his fangs, spray paint himself white, and go, "Baa."
Until the wolf shows up. Then the entire flock tries desperately to hide behind one lonely sheepdog. The students, the victims, at Columbine High School were big, tough high school students, and under ordinary circumstances they would not have had the time of day for a police officer. They were not bad kids; they just had nothing to say to a cop. When the school was under attack, however, and SWAT teams were clearing the rooms and hallways, the officers had to physically peel those clinging, sobbing kids off of them. This is how the little lambs feel about their sheepdog when the wolf is at the door.
Look at what happened after September 11, 2001 when the wolf pounded hard on the door. Remember how America, more than ever before, felt differently about their law enforcement officers and military personnel? Remember how many times you heard the word hero?
Understand that there is nothing morally superior about being a sheepdog; it is just what you choose to be. Also understand that a sheepdog is a funny critter: He is always sniffing around out on the perimeter, checking the breeze, barking at things that go bump in the night, and yearning for a righteous battle. That is, the young sheepdogs
3
yearn for a righteous battle. The old sheepdogs are a little older and wiser, but they move to the sound of the guns when needed right along with the young ones.
Here is how the sheep and the sheepdog think differently. The sheep pretend the wolf will never come, but the sheepdog lives for that day. After the attacks on September 11, 2001, most of the sheep, that is, most citizens in America said, "Thank God I wasn't on one of those planes." The sheepdogs, the warriors, said, "Dear God, I wish I could have been on one of those planes. Maybe I could have made a difference." When you are truly transformed into a warrior and have truly invested yourself into warrior hood, you want to be there. You want to be able to make a difference.
There is nothing morally superior about the sheepdog, the warrior, but he does have one real advantage. Only one. And that is that he is able to survive and thrive in an environment that destroys 98 percent of the population. There was research conducted a few years ago with individuals convicted of violent crimes. These cons were in prison for serious, predatory crimes of violence: assaults, murders and killing law enforcement officers. The vast majority said that they specifically targeted victims by body language: slumped walk, passive behavior and lack of awareness. They chose their victims like big cats do in Africa, when they select one out of the herd that is least able to protect itself.
Some people may be destined to be sheep and others might be genetically primed to be wolves or sheepdogs. But I believe that most people can choose which one they want to be, and I'm proud to say that more and more Americans are choosing to become sheepdogs.
Seven months after the attack on September 11, 2001, Todd Beamer was honored in his hometown of Cranbury, New Jersey. Todd, as you recall, was the man on Flight 93 over Pennsylvania who called on his cell phone to alert an operator from United Airlines about the hijacking. When he learned of the other three passenger planes that had been used as weapons, Todd dropped his phone and uttered the words, "Let's roll," which authorities believe was a signal to the other passengers to confront the terrorist hijackers. In one hour, a transformation occurred among the passengers - athletes, business people and parents. -- from sheep to sheepdogs and together they fought the wolves, ultimately saving an unknown number of lives on the ground.
There is no safety for honest men except by believing all possible evil of evil men. - Edmund Burke
Here is the point I like to emphasize, especially to the thousands of police officers and soldiers I speak to each year. In nature the sheep, real sheep, are born as sheep. Sheepdogs are born that way, and so are wolves. They didn't have a choice. But you are not a critter. As a human being, you can be whatever you want to be. It is a conscious, moral decision. If you want to be a sheep, then you can be a sheep and that is okay, but you must understand the price you pay. When the wolf comes, you and your loved ones are going to die if there is not a sheepdog there to protect you. If you want to be a wolf, you can be one, but the sheepdogs are going to hunt you down and you will never have rest, safety, trust or love. But if you want to be a sheepdog and walk the warrior's path, then you must make a conscious and moral decision every day to dedicate, equip and prepare yourself to thrive in that toxic, corrosive moment when the wolf comes knocking at the door.
For example, many officers carry their weapons in church.? They are well concealed in ankle holsters, shoulder holsters or inside-the-belt holsters tucked into the small of their backs.? Anytime you go to some form of religious service, there is a very good chance that a police officer in your congregation is carrying. You will never know if there is such an individual in your place of worship, until the wolf appears to massacre you and your loved ones.
I was training a group of police officers in Texas, and during the break, one officer asked his friend if he carried his weapon in church. The other cop replied, "I will never be caught without my gun in church." I asked why he felt so strongly about this, and he told me about a cop he knew who was at a church massacre in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1999. In that incident, a mentally deranged individual came into the church and opened fire, gunning down fourteen people. He said that officer believed he could have saved every life that day if he had been carrying his gun. His own son was shot, and all he could do was throw himself on the boy's body and wait to die. That cop looked me in the eye and said, "Do you have any idea how hard it would be to live with yourself after that?"
Some individuals would be horrified if they knew this police officer was carrying a weapon in church. They might call him paranoid and would probably scorn him. Yet these same individuals would be enraged and would call for "heads to roll" if they found out that the airbags in their cars were defective, or that the fire extinguisher and fire sprinklers in their kids' school did not work. They can accept the fact that fires and traffic accidents can happen and that there must be safeguards against them.
Their only response to the wolf, though, is denial, and all too often their response to the sheepdog is scorn and disdain. But the sheepdog quietly asks himself, "Do you have and idea how hard it would be to live with yourself if your loved ones were attacked and killed, and you had to stand there helplessly because you were unprepared for that day?" It is denial that turns people into sheep. Sheep are psychologically destroyed by combat because their only defense is denial, which is counterproductive and destructive, resulting in fear, helplessness and horror when the wolf shows up. Denial kills you twice. It kills you once, at your moment of truth when you are not physically prepared: you didn't bring your gun, you didn't train. Your only defense was wishful thinking. Hope is not a strategy. Denial kills
4
you a second time because even if you do physically survive, you are psychologically shattered by your fear helplessness and horror at your moment of truth.
Gavin de Becker puts it like this in Fear Less, his superb post-9/11 book, which should be required reading for anyone trying to come to terms with our current world situation: "...denial can be seductive, but it has an insidious side effect. For all the peace of mind deniers think they get by saying it isn't so, the fall they take when faced with new violence is all the more unsettling." Denial is a save-now-pay-later scheme, a contract written entirely in small print, for in the long run, the denying person knows the truth on some level.
And so the warrior must strive to confront denial in all aspects of his life, and prepare himself for the day when evil comes. If you are a warrior who is legally authorized to carry a weapon and you step outside without that weapon, then you become a sheep, pretending that the bad man will not come today. No one can be "on" 24/7, for a lifetime. Everyone needs down time. But if you are authorized to carry a weapon, and you walk outside without it, just take a deep breath, and say this to yourself... "Baa."
This business of being a sheep or a sheep dog is not a yes-no dichotomy. It is not an all-or-nothing, either-or choice. It is a matter of degrees, a continuum. On one end is an abject, head-in-the-sand-sheep and on the other end is the ultimate warrior. Few people exist completely on one end or the other. Most of us live somewhere in between. Since 9-11 almost everyone in America took a step up that continuum, away from denial. The sheep took a few steps toward accepting and appreciating their warriors, and the warriors started taking their job more seriously. The degree to which you move up that continuum, away from sheep hood and denial, is the degree to which you and your loved ones will survive, physically and psychologically at your moment of truth.

THE AXIS OF IDIOTS
J.D. Pendry
J.D. Pendry is a retired Marine Sergeant who writes for Random House. He is eloquent, and he seldom beats around the bush.
Jimmy Carter, you are the father of the Islamic Nazi movement. You threw the Shah under the bus, welcomed the Ayatollah home, and then lacked the spine to confront the terrorists when they took our embassy and our people hostage. You’re the runner-in-chief.
Bill Clinton, you played ring around the Lewinski while the terrorists were at war with us. You got us into a fight with them in Somalia and then you ran from it. Your weak-willed responses to the USS Cole and the first Trade Center bombing and our Embassy bombings emboldened the killers. Each time you failed to respond adequately, they grew bolder, until 9/11/2001.
John Kerry, dishonesty is your most prominent attribute. You lied about American Soldiers in Vietnam. Your military service, like your life, is more fiction than fact. You’ve accused our military of terrorizing women and children in Iraq. You called Iraq the wrong war, wrong place, wrong time, the same words you used to describe Vietnam. You’re a fake. You want to run from Iraq and abandon the Iraqis to murderers just as you did the Vietnamese. Iraq, like Vietnam, is another war you were for, before you were against it.
John Murtha, you said our military was broken. You said we can’t win militarily in Iraq. You accused United States Marines of cold-blooded murder without proof and said we should redeploy to Okinawa. Okinawa, John? And the democrats call you their military expert! Are you sure you didn’t suffer a traumatic brain injury while you were off building your war hero resume? You’re a sad, pitiable, corrupt and washed up politician. You’re not a Marine , sir. You wouldn’t amount to a good pimple on a real Marines ass. You’re a phony and a disgrace. Run away, John.
Dick Durbin, you accused our Soldiers at Guantanamo of being Nazis, tenders to Soviet style Gulags and as bad as the regime of Pol Pot, who murdered two million of his own people after your party abandoned Southeast Asia to the Communists. Now you want to abandon the Iraqis to the same fate. History was not a good teacher for you, was it? Lord help us! See Dick run.
Ted Kennedy, for days on end you held poster sized pictures from Abu Ghraib in front of any available television camera. Al Jazeera quoted you saying that Iraqi’s torture chambers were opened under new management. Did you see the news, Teddy? The Islamic Nazis demonstrated another beheading for you. If you truly supported our troops, you’d show the world poster sized pictures of that atrocity and demand the annihilation of it. Your legislation stripping support from the South Vietnamese led to the communist victory there. You’re a bloated, drunken fool bent on repeating the same historical blunder that turned freedom seeking people over to homicidal, genocidal maniacs. To paraphrase John Murtha, all the while sitting on your wide, gin soaked rear end in Washington.
Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Carl Levine, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Russ Feingold, Hillary Clinton, Pat Leahy, Barrack Obama, chuck Schumer, the Hollywood Leftist morons, et al, ad nauseam: every
time you stand in front of television cameras and broadcast to the Islamic Nazis that we went to war because
5
our President lied, that the war is wrong and our soldiers are torturers, that we should leave Iraq you give the
Islamic butchers - the same ones that tortured and mutilated American Soldiers - cause to think that we’ll run away again, and all they have to do is hang on a little longer. It is inevitable that we, the infidels, will have to defeat the Islamic Jihadists. Better to do it now on their turf, than later on ours after they have gained both strength and momentum.
American news media, the New York Times particularly: each time you publish stories about national defense secrets and our intelligence gathering methods you become one united with the sub-human pieces of camel dung that torture and mutilate the bodies of American Soldiers. You can’t strike up the courage to publish cartoon, but you can help Al Quaeda destroy my country. Actually, you are more dangerous to us than Al Quaeda is. Think about that each time you face Mecca to admire your Pulitzer…
You are America’s “AXIS OF IDIOTS.” your collective stupidity will destroy us. Self-serving politics and terrorist-abetting news scoops are more important to you than our national security or the lives of innocent civilians and Soldiers. It bothers you that defending ourselves gets in the way of your elitist sport of politics and your ignorant editorializing.
Yes, I’m questioning your patriotism. Your loyalty ends with self. I’m also questioning why you’re stealing air that decent Americans could be breathing. You don’t deserve the protection of our men and women in uniform. You need to run away from this war, this country. Leave the war to the people who have the will to see it through and the country to the people who are willing to defend it.
No, Mr. President, you don’t get off the hook either. Our country has two enemies: those who want to destroy us from the outside and those who attempt it from within. Your soldiers are dealing with the outside force. It’s your obligation to support them by confronting the AXIS OF IDIOTS. America must hear it from you that these self -centered people are harming our country, abetting the enemy and endangering our safety. Well up a little anger, please, and channel it toward the appropriate target. You must prosecute those who leak national security secrets to the media. You must prosecute those in the media who knowingly publish those secrets. Our soldiers need you to confront the enemy that they cannot. They need you to do it now.
-- -- -- -- -- - -- -- -- -- --
The above was written and published about the time that the last presidential campaign began if not before. Our studies show that it is factual. There is many more facts not expressed in this article however, or at least partially. All of the people described as “THE AXIS OF IDIOTS” were in fact screaming FOR war in Iraq long before it became a fact. When President Bush entered us into that war, it suddenly became a no-no. I personally know this for a fact because I was very interested in what was going on and had been for some time. I fully agree with the portrayal of the character of each and every one of the people portrayed in this article. If I had my way every one of you traitorous scheming idiots would be in front of a firing squad where you belong. Get out of dodge, you are not wanted!!!! You are traitors and the enemy of my beloved country!

The Pope and Nancy Pelosi are on the same stage in front of a huge crowd.
The Pope leans towards Mrs. Pelosi and said, "Do you know that with one little wave of my hand I can make every person in this crowd go wild with joy? This joy will not be a
momentary display, like that of your followers, but go deep into their hearts and they'll forever speak of this day and rejoice!"
Pelosi replied, "I seriously doubt that. With one little wave of your hand? Show me" So the Pope slapped her.

It started out innocently enough.
I began to think at parties, now and then, just to loosen up. Inevitably, though, one thought led to another, and soon I was more than just a social thinker.
I began to think alone -- "to relax," I told myself -- but I knew it wasn't true. Thinking became more and more important to me, and finally I was thinking all the time.
That was when things began to sour at home. One evening I turned off the TV and asked my wife about the meaning of life - and that night she went and spent the night at her mother's.
I began to think on the job. I knew that thinking and employment don't mix, but I couldn't help myself. I began to avoid friends at lunchtime so I could read Thoreau, Muir, Confucius and Kafka. I would return to the office all turned around, asking, "What is it exactly that we are doing here?"
One day the boss called me in. He said, "Listen, I like you, and it hurts me to say this, but your thinking has become a real problem. If you don't stop thinking on the job you'll
have to find another job." This gave me a lot to think about. I came home early after my conversation with the boss. "Honey," I confessed, "I've been thinking..." 6
"I know you've been thinking," she said, "and I want a divorce!"
"But hon, surely it's not that serious."
"It is serious," she said, lower lip aquiver. "You think as much as college professors and college professors don't make any money, so if you keep on thinking, we won't have any money!"
"I think that's a faulty syllogism," I said impatiently. She exploded in tears of rage and frustration, but I was in no mood to deal with the emotional drama.
"I'm going to the library," I snarled as I stomped out the door. I headed for the library, in the mood for some Nietzsche. I roared into the parking lot with NPR on the radio and ran up to the big glass doors. They didn't open. The library was closed.
To this day, I believe that a Higher Power was looking out for me that night. Leaning on the glass door, a Thinkers Anonymous poster caught my eye. "Is heavy thinking ruining your life?" it asked.
This is why I am what I am today: a recovering thinker. I never miss a TA meeting. At each meeting we watch a non-educational video; last week it was "Porky's." Then we share experiences about how we avoided thinking since the last meeting. I still have my job, and things are a lot better at home. Life just seemed easier, somehow, as soon as I stopped thinking.
I think the road to recovery is nearly complete for me. Today I took the final step. I joined the Democratic Party.

DIVORCE AGREEMENT
Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists, Obama supporters, et al:
We have stuck together since the late 1950's, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has run its course. Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what is right so let's just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.
Here is a model separation agreement:
Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.
We don't like redistributive taxes so you can keep them. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU, and abortion clinics. Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O'Donnell.
We'll keep the capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street. You can have your beloved homeless, homeboys, hippies and illegal aliens. We'll keep the hot Alaskan hockey moms and rednecks. We'll keep the Bibles and give you NBC and Hollywood .
You can make nice with Iran and Palestine and we'll retain the right to invade and hammer places that threaten us. You can have the peaceniks, and war protesters. When our allies or our way of life are under assault, we'll help provide them security.
We'll keep our Judeo-Christian values. You are welcome to Islam, Scientology, Humanism and Shirley McClain. You can also have the U.N., but we will no longer be paying the bill.
We'll keep the SUVs, pickup trucks and oversized luxury cars. You can take every Subaru station wagon you can find.
You can give everyone healthcare if you can find any practicing doctors. We'll continue to believe healthcare is a luxury and not a right. We'll keep The Battle Hymn of the Republic and the National Anthem. I'm sure you'll be happy to substitute I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing, Kum Ba Ya or We Are the World.
We'll practice trickle down economics and you can give trickle up poverty your best shot. Since it often so offends you, we'll keep our history, our name and our flag.
7
Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you ANWAR which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.
Sincerely, John J. Wall Law Student and an American
P.S. Also, please take Barbara Streisand and Jane Fonda with you

A Black Man Became a Walking Red Herring Tonight
Posted by Erick Erickson
Wednesday, September 9th at 9:15PM EDT
His was not a speech worthy of a national night of media coverage before a joint session of congress. This was a partisan speech full of rubbing Republicans’ noses in his legislative policy preferences.
Americans tonight are suffering pre-traumatic hemorrhoid disorder, knowing Barack Obama’s government is about to rape their wallets, destroy their wages, and force government healthcare down our throats.
We were treated to a vainglorious, pompous ass playing politics with healthcare while accuses everyone else of playing politics. And he spent the whole hour lying through his teeth.
Barack Obama has signed on in toto to the Democrats’ healthcare plan, including a public option. He said that the plan won’t fund abortions. But it will. In fact, the Democrats specifically cut out of the legislation clear language to prevent funding of abortions. Moreso, the Hyde Amendment, which Barack Obama hides behind, would not apply to this legislation because the Hyde Amendment only applies to Department of Health and Human Services appropriations and, get this, the Democrats have decided that healthcare expenditures will not be in the HHS budget. Therefore, abortions will be paid for.
More importantly, Barack Obama said the plan will not cover illegal aliens. This is a lie. Joe Wilson was right. The legislation clearly says it will not fund illegal aliens BUT the legislation also prevents anyone from checking on the citizenship status of any person seeking healthcare. He is trying to have it both ways.
The entire speech from Barack Obama was loaded with half-truths and flat out lies. For example, he said he would not force the government option on anyone. But, the legislation provides an incentive for private employers to shove their employees onto the government plan.
Likewise, the President says individuals will be able to keep their insurance even when the switch jobs. That is not true. According to the Democrats’ legislation, if an employee switches jobs, they must get on a government approved plan and then can never get off it.
The President also tried to claim that this $900 billion plan will not add to the deficit. He will pay for it without tax increases he said. He said, instead, he’ll save money by reforming present healthcare. Why not do that now? Even so, the Congressional Budget Office says the total savings from stamping out waste, fraud, and abuse would barely be a dent in the overall costs of the legislation.
The President was short on details, high on rhetoric, and much too partisan on this issue. He wants to work across the aisle, but on his terms with a pre-existing failed Democrat plan.
Whatever the President did not accomplish tonight, he waved around the cadaver named Ted Kennedy as a distraction. It is a good thing Ted Kennedy drank as much as he did, because his corpse held up well as Obama dragged it through the aisles of the House of Representatives like Achilles dragging Hector across the plains of Troy. It was a disgusting display of distraction by a man who has staked his Presidency on the destruction of the American healthcare system. We must help him fail.

It's almost been almost a month since the law allowing gun-carry permit holders to carry in bars and restaurants if they're not drinking, and I haven't heard of even one violent incident. Have you? I've scoured the Internet, searched television, radio and newspaper Web sites. Nothing. Seems like I remember Nashville restaurateur Randy Rayburn saying just before the law went into effect, "In Tennessee, we apparently are going to have 225,000 vigilantes shooting in bars." Randy's an old friend of mine, and I have the utmost respect for him as a restaurateur, but he was wrong on this one.
As was Adam Dread, another old friend. Dread feared some drunk would take a gun from a carry permit holder. Seeing as how nobody knows the vast majority of permit holders are packing, I don't see how that's even relevant to the argument. Dread also worried about the impact on tourism. There are 37 other states with similar laws on the books, and there's absolutely no indication it's had any effect on tourism.
Now, I know some of you may be saying that you've seen these hand-made signs on restaurant doors reading, "No Firearms." That's probably why we haven't seen any weapons being discharged, right? After all, criminals can read. If they were intending to get drunk and shoot up the place, they would naturally think twice once they saw one of those intimidating signs on the door. We really ought to make some of those up for the banks. I bet if
we put some "No Firearms," or better yet, "No Bank Robbers" signs on the door, those criminals would just go back to their cars and go home. I would submit to you that restaurants that post these silly signs are in more danger of
8
getting robbed or seeing some kind of violence. Let's use some common sense for just a moment. If you posted a "No Firearms" sign in your front yard, do you think you'd be more likely or less likely to be robbed?
But I ask you again, where's the bloodbath that opponents claimed would surely ensue? They claimed that alcohol and guns don't mix, and they're right. That's always been against the law in Tennessee. You cannot lawfully carry a gun and drink in Tennessee. That was never the issue. The issue was allowing law-abiding permit holders to carry their guns if they weren't drinking. How people thought that was going to lead to more shootings in bars and restaurants is beyond me.
These were the same folks who were crying that Tennessee would become Dodge City if the carry permit law passed in the first place. Did that happen? Of course not. There's a life lesson here that everyone needs to learn. I understand why some people who are unaccustomed to guns are afraid of them. In the wrong hands, they can be quite deadly. These people see the news reports about someone else becoming the victim of gun violence and they associate guns with evil. Quite the contrary. Guns are good. If they weren't, every police officer in America wouldn't be carrying one.
According to the National Crime Victimization Surveys, guns are used to thwart a crime nearly 2 million times each year. That's 128 times the number of murders. In other words, guns are used for good far more than they're used for evil, yet there are whole movements dedicated to their extinction.
Back in 1982, the town of Kennesaw, Ga., passed a law requiring every head of household to keep a gun in the house. The story got international attention. Columnist Art Buchwald wrote a piece for The Washington Post predicting routine arguments would be settled in Wild West shootouts. Sound familiar? What really happened in Kennesaw is the population boomed, and crime plummeted. The town of 5,000 in 1982 is now more than 30,000, and there hasn't been one single Kennesaw resident involved in a fatal shooting since the gun requirement went into effect. Yes, guns are good; some people are bad. Others are just ignorant.

War on Terror Over According to Obama Administration
They can deny it all they want. But, the fact of the matter is that Muslim extremists are chomping at the bit to kill Americans, and one of these days they will strike on our soil and be successful. Then what excuse will the Left make for the “religion of peace” and its love for jihad against Westerners?
Even if Obama and company have forsaken the war against terror, I assure you that the jihadists have not; they live and breathe the thought of killing infidels.
Liberals in this country are more interested in fighting a war against prosperity, capitalism, and, of course, the much-hated Israel. However, I don’t remember any Israelis coming after us on September 11th and certainly not successful entrepreneurs. Read from Jihad Watch about the new policy that abandons the dreaded term “war on terror”.

Hillary: Yes, the 'war on terror' really is over Let the good times roll
“Does this mean that Islamic jihadists worldwide will no longer try to ‘strike terror into the hearts of the enemies of Allah’ (Qur'an 8:60)? ‘Clinton: “War On Terror” Phrase Won't Be Used,’ from NPR, March 30 (thanks to Benedict): http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=102532656&ft=1&f=1001
NPR.org, March 30, 2009 · ‘Secretary of State Hillary Clinton says the Obama administration has indeed abandoned the term "global war on terror." Clinton says that while she hasn't seen any specific orders, the new administration in Washington simply isn't using the phrase. The term was a rallying cry for President Bush after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. But the use of the term "global war on terror" is widely disliked overseas....She said the absence of the "war on terror" language speaks for itself. Pundits have noted the absence, but top administration figures have had little to say on the subject.’” Posted by Debra Moore at 10:19 PM

I'm Tired by Robert A. Hall ( See Wikipedia )
I'll be 63 soon. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce,` and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I've worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven't called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there's no retirement in sight, and I'm tired. Very tired.
I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth around" to people` who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy or stupid to earn it.
9
I'm tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to "keep people in their homes." Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I'm willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the left-wing Congress-critters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble help them with their own money.
I'm tired of being told how bad America is by left-wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros, and Hollywood entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have the economy of Zimbabwe, the freedom of the press of China, the crime and violence of Mexico , the tolerance for Christian people of Iran, and the freedom of speech of Venezuela. Won't multiculturalism be beautiful?
I'm tired of being told that Islam is a "Religion of Peace," when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family "honor"; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren't "believers"; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for "adultery"; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Quran and Shari'a law tells them to.
I believe "a man should be judged by the content of his character, not by the color of his skin." I'm tired of being told that "race doesn't matter" in the post-racial world of Obama, when it's all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of US Senators from Illinois.
I think it's very cool that we have a black president and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote the emancipation proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual and less arrogantly of an all-knowing government.
I'm tired of a news media that thinks Bush's fund-raising and inaugural expenses were obscene, but that think Obama's, at triple the cost, were wonderful; that thinks Bush exercising daily was a waste of presidential time, but Obama exercising is a great example for the public to control weight and stress; that picked over every line of Bush's military records, but never demanded that Kerry release his; that slammed Palin, with two years as governor, for being too inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama with three years as senator as potentially the best president ever. Wonder why people are dropping their subscriptions or switching to Fox News? Get a clue. I didn't vote for Bush in 2000, but the media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.
I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America , while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue, or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.
I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global` warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore's, and if you're greener than Gore, you're green enough.
I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don't think Gay people choose to be Gay, but I damn sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I'm tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana.
I'm tired of illegal aliens being called "undocumented workers," especially the ones who aren't working, but are living on welfare or crime. What's next? Calling drug dealers, Undocumented Pharmacists"? And, no, I'm not against Hispanics. Most of them are Catholic, and it's been a few hundred years since Catholics wanted to kill me for my religion. I'm willing to fast track for citizenship any Hispanic person, who can speak English, doesn't have a criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare, or who serves honorably for three years in our military... Those are the citizens we need.
I'm tired of latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear the` uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station, trashing our military. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad mouth better people than themselves. Do bad things happen in war? You bet. Do our troops sometimes misbehave? Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were the policy of our enemies for the last fifty years and still are? Not even close. So here's the deal. I'll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, and the critics can let themselves be subject to captivity by the Muslims who tortured and beheaded Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims who ran the blood-spattered Al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in Iraq, or the Muslims who cut
off the heads of schoolgirls in Indonesia, because the girls were Christian. Then we'll compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troops in history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding from in fear.
10
I'm tired of people telling me that their party has a corner on virtue and the other party has a corner on corruption. Read the papers; bums are bipartisan. And I'm tired of people telling me we need bipartisanship. I live in Illinois , where the " Illinois Combine" of Democrats has worked to loot the public for years. Not to mention the tax cheats in Obama's cabinet as well.
I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers, and politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor. Speaking of poor, I'm tired of hearing people with air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called poor. The majority of Americans didn't have that in 1970, but we didn't know we were "poor." The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor to keep the dollars flowing.
I'm real tired of people who don't take responsibility for their lives and actions. I'm tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination, or big-whatever for their problems.
Yes, I'm damn tired. But I'm also glad to be 63. Because, mostly, I'm not going to have to see the world these people are making. I'm just sorry for my granddaughter.

Umm, you know all that climate data that proves global warming, well, nobody’s had it for 20+ years Posted by LJ "Beaglescout" Miller
Wednesday, September 23rd at 11:49PM EDT
Imagine you are a climate researcher who has been assembling the data that is used to support claims of global warming. Or imagine you are Phil Jones from the Climate Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia. Or imagine you are a scientific fraud. Did I write “or”? I meant “and.”
Before we get into the sleazy details let’s talk about science. The scientific method that has produced such incredible progress over the last five hundred years depends on peer review, rigorously reproducible experiments, and transparent access to the original data as well as all operations performed on it. Factor analysis, time series analysis and other techniques lead to theories about cause and effect. Empirical data from experimental results indicates numerical relationships. Results are tested and vetted by many methods, including statistical analysis of the data for measurement bias. The result is that scientific theories are never proved. Two things can happen to them.
Theories can be accepted as good enough for a while; until
They get disproved.
In science, breakthroughs are made by disproving old theories that were good enough for a long time, and replacing them with new or refined theories. Where experiments are feasible, new experiments are performed to vet results. In order for the scientific method to work for theories in which experiments are not feasible (such as weather science), the original data must be kept. A reliable record of all mathematical transformations must also be kept. To depart from this method by inventing or manipulating data is usually enough to make a pariah of a scientist. But there are certain scientists who, because of the faddishness and political correctness of their results, get a pass when they violate every standard of scientific research.
But the fact of the matter is those so-called scientists are frauds, and so are their supporters. Patrick J. Michaels of NRO has the story in all its deplorable, results-falsifying glory at Watts Up With That.
In the early 1980s, with funding from the U.S. Department of Energy, scientists at the United Kingdom’s University of East Anglia established the Climate Research Unit (CRU) to produce the world’s first comprehensive history of surface temperature. It’s known in the trade as the “Jones and Wigley” record for its authors, Phil Jones and Tom Wigley, and it served as the primary reference standard for the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) until 2007. It was this record that prompted the IPCC to claim a “discernible human influence on global climate.”
Putting together such a record isn’t at all easy. Weather stations weren’t really designed to monitor global climate. Long-standing ones were usually established at points of commerce, which tend to grow into cities that induce spurious warming trends in their records. Trees grow up around thermometers and lower the afternoon temperature.
Further, as documented by the University of Colorado’s Roger Pielke Sr., many of the stations themselves are placed in locations, such as in parking lots or near heat vents, where artificially high temperatures are bound to be recorded.
So the weather data that go into the historical climate records that are required to verify models of global warming aren’t the original records at all. Jones and Wigley, however, weren’t specific about what
11
was done to which station in order to produce their record, which, according to the IPCC, showed a warming of 0.6° +/– 0.2°C in the 20th century.
Guess what comes next? Every time a scientist wants to examine the data and make sure it is good, Phil Jones refuses. A few scientists who are properly deferential get bits of data. But the scientific method cannot operate without peer review from scientists who look for problems. How can the science be improved if it cannot be examined? After deflecting requests for data with all sorts of weak excuses (read the article for a number of good laughs), Jones eventually admitted that he and his partner never kept the original data. From the beginning of their work in 1979, they only kept data after they had adjusted it by unknown and inexplicable methods. They adjusted new data before including it in their existing, adjusted data. And then they threw the new original data away. Read what Jones wrote:
Since the 1980s, we have merged the data we have received into existing series or begun new ones, so it is impossible to say if all stations within a particular country or if all of an individual record should be freely available. Data storage availability in the 1980s meant that we were not able to keep the multiple sources for some sites, only the station series after adjustment for homogeneity issues. We, therefore, do not hold the original raw data but only the value-added (i.e., quality controlled and homogenized) data.
In other words, they threw away the original data and falsified the data they kept. Though the story of the falsified global warming data does not prove that human activity has changed global climate, it is clear that the IPCC’s climate data shows signs of human activity. Unfortunately for the climate change hypothesis, it shows signs of human activity in falsifying the data.
Combine this with the 2007 discovery that NASA climate activist James Hansen’s computer models that showed increasing temperatures from 1998 to 2006 suffered from a Y2K bug and were completely wrong (see the graph at the right showing a sudden leap in measurements on midnight 12/31/1999) and things don’t look too peachy for claims that human activity, let alone cow farts and backyard barbequeues, are changing the world’s climate.
Tangentially, we have the fact that Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is one of the two most critical components of the cycle of life, along with its partner atmospheric Oxygen (O2). Plants breathe in CO2 and breathe out O2. Animals breathe in O2 and breathe out CO2. Water is also part of the cycle. But the respiration of the two great kingdoms of life, the animal and vegetable kingdoms, depends on CO2. Increasing amounts of CO2 are causing the greening of the Sahara desert. Is this one of the bad effects of CO2 that we should be worried about? Increased quantities of atmospheric CO2 make plants healthier and increase their numbers. Increasing numbers of healthier plants create more O2 for animals to breathe and more animal fodder for animals to eat. If increased quantities of CO2 will strengthen the cycle of life, decreased quantities will weaken the cycle. The cycle of life goes round and round, either growing or dying away, and the greenies who advocate CO2 restrictions claim to be on the side of animals and plants. Yet green goals will reduce the numbers of plants and animals and make them less healthy.
So here we have a climate scientist who admits that he does not follow the scientific method, the world’s most important computer model of climate suffering from an undetected Y2K error, and advocates of plant and animal life whose goals are to have less of both. I do not claim to know everything that is going on, but I know enough to ask one more question. What is the real game?

The fact is that those who are screaming the loudest about global warming have an agenda. Have you ever heard the old saying “ tell a lie often enough and loud enough and it will become a truth.” That is exactly what is happening here. Like the BS about non existent Saturday night specials, Cop killer bullets, and assault weapons and the millions of children being killed every year by guns and such, this is just another lie fostered by the media people. Just as gun control people spout this crap for their own purposes, the left wingers spout it to further their agenda. This agenda is to make this a socialist country just like those in Europe. To destroy our economy so that the socialists (Commies-Nazis or whatever) can take over. We already have a democrat engineered, so called meltdown, that has resulted in the nationalizing of our banking industry and our automobile industry. Now they are working on another 10-15% of our economy by nationalizing medicine. The next thing will be to nationalize our energy production and break our economic back with CAP and Trade. How long will it be before our resident Nazi presidential pretender declares himself Fuehrer. The following is just one of the many articles written by real scientists with the facts instead of what was in the above. The aleditors note

Welcome to my website where I will try to give you the answer to the question "is there global warming?" As you are well aware there is a huge effort around the globe to counter the alleged impact of mankind on the world's climate. If in fact mankind will cause the seas to rise appreciably by causing CO2 induced global warming then certainly let's do something about it. But, what if global warming is not what they say it is? What if the world's temperature is headed in the opposite direction? Global temperatures increased for twenty years from the late 1970s to the late 1990s but have actually been cooling the last eleven years. The global warming and subsequent cooling were even predictable due to hundreds of years of historical trends and observation of the impact of variations in solar activity on global temperature.
Did you know that the Roman Period and Medieval Period (Middle Ages) were both several degrees warmer than today's temperature. The world then cooled at least four degrees from 1450 to 1850. This period was called the Little Ice Age (a period of glacial advance, the same glaciers that are in retreat today)? These temperature variations were not caused by man. They were caused entirely by natural forces.
Quick facts about the US and global climate.
Temperatures are in decline
*According to the US National Climate Data Center 2008 temperatures in the USA were below the 115 year average for most of the country link.US Summer temperatures were cooler than average, the 34th coolest since 1895
*Global temperatures according to the UAH for June 2009 were only .001 deg. C above the 30 year average and cooler than 1979. link July and August temperatures were up somewhat due to a return of a cool El Nino link
*NASA announced that 2008 global temperatures were significantly cooler than 2007, the coolest since 2000 and below the average of the last 30 years
*temperatures that were once rising are now falling rapidly according to the NOA link, 1998 was a warm year but the eleven years since have each been cooler, global temperatures have dropped an average of .6 degrees F in this period (according to UAH) Three agencies responsible for tracking global climate show temperature decreases since 2002 link
*Global temperatures cooled in five of the last seven decades even though CO2 levels increased steadily throughout this period.
Total global polar sea ice volumes are about the same as 30 years ago
*When adding the sea ice volumes at both poles there is about the same ice as 30 years ago. Antarctica has 90% of the worlds ice and had the most sea ice ever recorded at the end of 2008, over one million square kilometers above the average maximum. The global sea ice extent today (combined sea ice at both Poles) is nearly the same as the average of the last 30 years according to NASA and NSIDC link link View today's Antarctic sea ice extent compared to the 1979-2007 average (National Snow and Ice Data Center) link link link While it is true Arctic sea ice volumes are less today than the average of the last 30 years the ice there has been growing the past two years and as of mid September 2009 there was 23% more ice than just two years earlier, which is over 1 million square kilometers of new ice. Antarctic sea ice extent in September 2009 is also growing and is 1 million square kilometers more than the previous year. View today's Arctic sea ice extent, AMSR-E link NSIDC link (Nansen) link
The oceans are cooling
*According to NOAA the earth's oceans have generally been cooling since 2003 though it is true in the last few months some areas of the Pacific have started to warm due to the return of El Nino conditions. See recent changes in the AMO (Atlantic Ocean) link Compare today's ocean temperatures to only a few years ago, link Monitor current ocean temperatures here, link
Observation shows the oceans have been cooling since 2003 despite climate model predictions link See how Argo is measuring ocean temperatures throughout the globe link Argo research has found ocean temperatures are cooling significantly link link
There are fewer violent storms, storm intensity is in decline
*Violent tornadoes are in decline in the US link. The global death rate from storms are in decline Global hurricane, typhoon, and cyclone activity are nearing 50 year lows according to Florida State University.
Solar activity is changing
So what has changed? CO2 concentrations continue to increase yet temperatures have been falling since 2002? Polar ice is growing. Storm intensity is in decline. One reason may be that solar activity is at the lowest level in almost a Century. See what the sun looks like with and without sunspots. View today's photo of the sun and note the continued lack of sunspots. In the past periods with fewer sunspots and lower solar activity were ones with cooler temperatures. It is believed by some scientists that lower solar activity increases cloud formation and this has a cooling effect. If the past is a predictor of the future, these changes in solar activity will cause a 30 year period of cooling temperatures on earth and in fact it appears that this has already begun. See the combined impact of ocean and solar cycles on global temperatures.
13
Europe, North America and many other areas of the Earth have recently experienced a score of unusually low temperatures. So where is the global warming that we are preparing for?
Is a carbon cap and trade system that would raise hundreds of billions of dollars each year for the government necessary if in fact the slightly warmer temperatures of 1978-1998 were caused by natural forces such as the Sun's increased activity in that period, and that many scientists are now becoming skeptical of the theory of man made global warming (AGW)? link It appears to me that this is looking more and more like the Y2K scare of the late 1990s.
I f you have doubts about the conventional beliefs of global warming and want to learn more please do read on.

Under the Bus
Another one bites the dust
Editor's Note: Thomas's commentary is in green and Marcie's is in purple.
he was first mentioned as a czar, during Valerie Jarrett's glowing remarks about how lucky the Administration wYes, President Barack Obama has thrown another associate under his massive bus. It's been awhile since that happened, so some people may forget about the people he's tossed under it. His grandmother has been there and back (brought back in the waning days of the election towards the end of her life). Jeremiah Wright has been tossed under it. As has Tom Daschle and Governor Bill Richardson. With so many people under there one has to ask if there's any room left. Don't worry, folks. President Obama just put a brand new set of monster-truck tires on his bus, just in case. In case of what, you ask? The recent resignation of former Green Jobs Czar Van Jones has inspired the GOP in Congress to put a target on the President's numerous czars; czars that, as we observed last issue, we believe are unconstitutional unless they have been submitted to the Senate for confirmation. But Van Jones was an interesting target, and he might've slipped below our radar had he not decided to take on Glenn Beck.
Van Jones decided, foolishly, to target Fox News pundit Glenn Beck after Mr. Beck made some inflammatory remarks regarding the President. Mr. Jones began organizing a boycott of Mr. Beck's top-rated show. Let us debunk a few of the talking points running around out there about this boycott. Emails were circulated by Mr. Beck's supporters accusing some sponsors of withdrawing their ads from Mr. Beck's show. Companies like CVS Pharmacy and Geico Insurance were accused of yanking their ads from his show. This is untrue. Neither company ever ran ads on Mr. Beck's show because they do not run ads on shows that could be construed and viewed as controversial. Were there sponsors who pulled their ads? Yes. Was it due to the pressure applied by Mr. Jones. Undoubtedly he had a hand in it, but the majority of pressure likely came in the form of the astroturfing tactics being used by the Obama White House; organized outrage targeted against an opponent of the president. The mistake Mr. Jones made in his strategy is he failed to protect his own political skin.
When Mr. Jones launched his campaign against Glenn Beck, he failed to notice those of us that immediately drew a bead on him and started digging into his past. When as to have "recruited" him, many people -- ourselves included -- discovered that Mr. Jones was a self-admitted Communist. In October of 2005, he stated in an interview he was a Communist. (We have seen what high-level Communists are able to do if they have the ear of the President. For those unaware, we'd suggest reading up on Alger Hiss.) He has been a radical most of his life, whether it was through student organizations, or in the real world. This man is one of several supporters of the cop killer Mumia Abu-Jamal, and was arrested during a protest of Mr. Abu-Jamal's incarceration and guilty verdict. That wasn't the first time he was arrested. In his own words he connected to the Marxist/Communist revolutionaries that regularly protest the government. But none of this mattered to most people, even the casual political observer. No, the ire of the people was loud and clear when it was revealed that Mr. Jones signed a petition calling for a full investigation of the US government regarding the events of 11 September 2001. In other words, people took notice of him when it was revealed he was a 9-11 Truther.
Most people that debate the Truthers usually give up after listening to five minutes of the nutty rants these people rely on. When Thomas and I run across these individuals, we usually just pat them on the head and send them on their merry way. You simply cannot talk sense to them at all. And while there is no evidence to show Mr. Jones was as rabid as most Truthers, the fact that his signature was on the petition was enough to warrant condemnation. A man with those beliefs has no business being that close to the Oval Office. This was the tipping point for him, and at the beginning of September when the news broke of his involvement the public was outraged. Gone was the feud between him and Mr. Beck. For the people -- the majority of which do not buy the crap the Truthers are shoveling -- this was the last straw. Van Jones had to go and they made their views known to the White House and to the
14
Congress. As the controversy surrounding him started ramping up, several Republican lawmakers began taking up the issue of President Obama's czars. They sensed an opening, and they decided to run with it. No longer was Senator Robert Byrd the lone voice in the wilderness on the czars. The Republicans had joined the fray.
On 5 September Van Jones submitted his resignation to the president. While many
MSM pundits claim he was forced out by a "racist minority," what was likely closer to the truth is that the president asked for the resignation. (No, we have no proof of that, but it makes more sense than Mr. Jones finally throwing in the towel. He had become a liability to the Administration.) The question that remains is who vetted this man, and allowed him a spot in the Administration? What has been discovered on that question is that it appears Mr. Jones was basically given a free pass. Just a couple short days after the election the incoming Administration stated that anyone wanting a job with them had to fill out a seven-page questionnaire. Mr. Jones wasn't ever asked to fill one out. The FBI did limited g on him and gave him a pass; that despite his radical ties to more aggressive community organizing groups. A source close to the White House admitted that everyone in the administration knew who Van Jones was, and what his political ideas were all about,
but they let him in the administration anyway. This doesn't show a lack of responsibility on the part of the Administration. It shows a complete disregard for what is appropriate when it comes to the president's key advisers. And no offense to some pundits out there, but Van Jones is another facet of the ideology the public elected back in November of 2008.
Regardless of the excuses, he should not have been in the White House. The Bush Administration made a fatal error in the nomination of Bernie Kerik to be the Department of Homeland Security Secretary. They did not vet him well enough either and his nomination blew up in their face. The same has happened to President Obama. But it was his hubris that caused this mess. He has nHe believes he is more ot submitted approximately twenty-five of his czars to the Senate for proper vetting. Had he done so Mr. Jones likely would never have been accepted and installed in the White House. This is why we have that process enumerated in the Constitution to begin with. Presidents in the past have been bitten by the corrupt or questionable ties to advisers they consulted. (No one will forget the scandals that plagued the Grant Administration that stemmed from nepotism.) But the Senate stands as the guardian to make sure only the best, scandal-free advisers and Cabinet Secretaries are allowed to assist the President. The President did not give them their chance to investigate Mr. Jones which we believe is due mostly to the arrogance of the young President. His actions since his inauguration prove this fact. He believes he is more of a king than a President, and his actions speak louder than his hollow words. Mr. Jones is the latest addition to the "Under-The-Bus" crowd, due in no small part to an ideologically partisan President who does not feel he needs to play by the rules. Let us hope that Mr. Jones will not be the last one under the bus.

A U.S. Marine squad was marching north of Fallujah when they came upon an Iraqi terrorist, badly injured and unconscious. On the opposite side of the road was an American Marine in a similar but less serious state. The Marine was conscious and alert and as first aid was given to both men, the squad leader asked the injured Marine what had happened.
The Marine reported, "I was heavily armed and moving north along the highway here, and coming south was a heavily armed insurgent. We saw each other and both took cover in the ditches along the road. I yelled to him that Saddam Hussein was a miserable, lowlife scum bag who got what he deserved, and he yelled back that Ted Kennedy is a fat, good-for-nothing, left wing liberal drunk who doesn't know how to drive. So I said that Osama Bin Ladin dresses and acts like a frigid, mean- spirited lesbian! He retaliated by yelling, "Oh yeah? Well, so does Nancy Pelosi!"
"And, there we were, in the middle of the road, shaking hands....when a truck hit us!"

I was on my way to visit my money at Lowe's Home Improvement this morning to do my part to stimulate the economy and I found myself behind this little rice burner of a car bearing a bumper sticker that read, "We did it! - Obama / Biden"
15
Well, as luck would have it she pulled along side of me at a red light about a half mile down the road. I beeped my horn and gave her a big thumbs up. She rolled down her window and I said, "I love your bumper sticker!' She thanked me.
Then I quickly added, "It's good that you are taking responsibility for your mistake!"
She gave me the finger and drove off. No Sense of humor !

Would you agree to this? If so, please pass it along to other like minded liberal and conservative patriots and if you do not agree, just hit delete. In the spirit of friendly parting, I'll bet you ANWAR which one of us will need whose help in 15 years.
Sincerely,
John J. Wall

Dishonesty, Intimidation,
Hypocrisy and Medicare Advantage
by Newt Gingrich
The editorial writers at the New York Times thought they were getting the White House's back when they
defended cuts to Medicare Advantage last week. In fact, they were validating the blatant dishonesty of administration and congressional officials pushing for the cuts. In their editorial last Sunday, the Times writers revealed in stunning fashion the lies that have been used to convince increasingly skeptical seniors that their Medicare Advantage benefits won't be sacrificed to pay for government-run health care.
Dishonesty: Medicare Advantage cuts 16
In one breath, the Times claimed the effect of Medicare Advantage cuts will be "modest":
"Although Republican rhetoric has triggered fears that Medicare Advantage enrollees might lose their coverage entirely if private plans drop out of the system, the real effect of the bill would likely be modest on average."
Then, literally on the next line, the Times contradicts itself, and stumbles inadvertently on to the truth:
"The value of an enrollee's added benefits would shrink by more than half from current levels but would not disappear; they would still be worth about $500 a year in 2019 (emphasis added)."
Intimidation: Free Speech Rights of Insurance Companies Denied
Medicare Advantage was created to do what the Center for Health Transformation (CHT) has long fought for: To give all seniors more private choices of higher quality health care. It currently provides almost 11 million Americans coverage through private insurance plans. Recent data shows that these seniors have better health outcomes than those in traditional Medicare.
Current legislation in Washington will gut the program. H.R. 3200 in the House will cut Medicare Advantage by $172 billion. The bill sponsored by Sen. Max Baucus in the Senate will cut the popular program by $123 billion.
If you're just hearing about this now, here's the reason: When Humana (with whom we've worked with in the past at CHT) tried to inform its Medicare Advantage members that Democratic health care reform could lower their benefits, the government ordered them to cease and desist and opened an investigation of the company.
Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) subsequently introduced legislation in the Senate Finance Committee to protect the 1st Amendment rights of private insurance companies to criticize health care reform proposals. Democrats on the committee unanimously defeated the bill.
Hypocrisy: The AARP Sells Out Seniors
But while Humana was censored by the government from talking to its Medicare Advantage enrollees about proposed Democratic cuts, another Medicare Advantage provider - the AARP - has been left free to lobby its members.
Of course the Washington leadership of the AARP is working closely with Democrats on health care reform. Incredibly, the self-appointed voice of America's seniors supports "reforms" that will cut the benefits - if not the entire Medicare Advantage coverage - of millions of seniors.
How can this be? It's simple. The AARP is a liberal interest group like any other, and it cut a deal with the party in charge in Washington. In exchange for selling out the seniors it claims to represent, the AARP will get potentially millions in lucrative insurance contracts, and quite possibly something more.
Tell Your Friends We're Not Going to Take It Anymore
No plan that has to be advanced through dishonesty, intimidation and hypocrisy has the support of the American people.
But all that is required for these tactics to prevail in Washington is for good people to sit back and do nothing.
As debate in Congress continues, here's what you can do: Send this newsletter to a friend, a co-worker, or a relative who isn't yet aware of what Washington is doing.
Send this newsletter to your senators and representatives. Let them know that, despite the dishonesty, the intimidation and the hypocrisy, we know what they're doing.
And we're not going to take it anymore. Your friend Newt Gringrinch

GEORGE CARLIN (His wife recently died...and George followed her, dying July 2008)
Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent..and so very appropriate.
A Message by George Carlin:
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.
We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor.. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things. We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less. 17
These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete.....
Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.
Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side. Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent..
Remember, to say, ' I love you ' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you. Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.. Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the
precious thoughts in your mind.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.If you don't send this to at least 8 people.....Who cares? George Carlin

Robot Bartender
Guy goes into a bar, there's a robot bartender. The robot says, "What will you have?" The guy says, "Martini." The robot brings back the best martini ever and says to the man, "What’s your IQ?" The guy says, "168". The robot then proceeds to talk about physics, space exploration and medical technology.
The guy leaves, but he is curious, so he goes back into the bar. The robot bartender says,? What will you have?" The guy says, "Martini". Again, the robot makes a great martini, gives it to the man and says, "What’s your IQ?" The guy says, "100." The robot then starts to talk about Nascar, Budweiser and John Deere tractors.
The guy leaves, but finds it very interesting, so he thinks he will try it one more time. He goes back into the bar. The robot says, "What will you have?" The guy says, "Martini", and the robot brings him another great martini. The robot then says, "What’s your IQ" The guy says, "Uh, about 50."
The robot leans in real close and says, "So, you people still happy you voted for Obama?"

You might recall that John Hinckley was a seriously deranged young man who shot President Reagan in the early 1980's. Hinckley was absolutely obsessed with movie star Jodie Foster, extremely jealous, and in his twisted mind, loved Jodie Foster to the point that to make himself well known to her, he attempted to assassinate President Reagan.
18
There is speculation Hinckley may soon be released as having been rehabilitated. Consequently, you may appreciate the following letter from Nancy Reagan to the staff at the mental facility treating Hinckley reports to have intercepted:

To: John Hinckley
From: Mrs. Nancy Reagan
My family and I wanted to drop you a short note to tell you how pleased we are with the great strides you are making in your recovery. In our fine country's spirit of understanding and forgiveness, we want you to know there is a nonpartisan consensus of compassion and forgiveness throughout.
The Reagan family and I want you to know that no grudge is borne against you for shooting President Reagan. We, above all, are aware of how the mental stress and pain could have driven you to such an act of desperation. We are confident that you will soon make a complete recovery and return to your family to join the world again as a healthy and productive young man.
Best wishes, Nancy Reagan & Family
P.S. While you have been incarcerated, Barack Obama has been banging Jodie Foster like a screen door in a tornado. You might want to look into that..

Don Rickles Roasts the Dems...
"Hello, dummies! Oh my God, look at you. Anyone else hurt in the accident?
Seriously, Senator Reid has a face of a Saint - A Saint Bernard. Now I know why they call you the arithmetic man. You add partisanship, subtract pleasure, divide attention, and multiply ignorance. Reid is so physically unimposing, he makes Pee Wee Herman look like Mr. T. And Reid's so dumb, he makes Speaker Pelosi look like an intellectual. Nevada is soooo screwed! If I were less polite, I'd say Reid makes Kevin Federline look successful.
Speaking of the Speaker... Nancy Pelosi, hubba, hubba! Hey baby, you must've been something before electricity. Seriously, the Speaker may look like an idiot and talk like an idiot but don't let that fool you. She really is an idiot. Madame Speaker.... want to make twelve bucks the hard way? Pelosi says she's not partisan, but her constituents call her Madame Pelossilini.
Charlie Rangel... still alive and still robbing the taxpayers blind. What does that make, six decades of theft? Rangel's the only man with a rent-controlled mansion. He's the guy who writes our tax laws but forgot to pay taxes on $75 grand in rental income! So why isn't he the Treasury Secretary? Rangel runs more scams than a Nigerian Banker.
Barney Frank - he's a better actor than Fred Flintstone. Consider... he and Dodd
caused the whole financial meltdown and they're not only not serving time with Bubba and Rodney, they're still heading up the financial system! Let's all admit it... Barney Frank slobbers more than a sheepdog on Novocain. How did this guy get elected? Oh, that's right... he's from Massachusetts . That's the state that elects Mr. Charisma, John Kerry -- man of the people!
You know, if Senator Dodd were any more crooked, you could open wine bottles with him. Here's a news flash, Dodd: when your local newspaper calls you a "lying weasel", it may be time to retire. Dodd's involved in more shady deals than the Clintons . Even Rangel looks up to him!
Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, I really respect you... especially given your upbringing. All you've overcome... I heard your birth certificate is an apology from the condom factory. I don't know what makes you so dumb, but it really works for you. Personally, I don't think you're a fool, but what's my opinion compared to that of thousands of others? Gibbs does his best expositional work in the bathroom every morning.
As for President Obama, what can I say? They say President Obama's arrogant and aloof, but I don't agree. Now it's true when you enter the room, you have to kiss his ring. I don't mind, but he has it in his back pocket. His mind is open to new ideas -- so open that ideas simply pass through it. Obama lies so much, I was actually surprised to find out his first name really was Barack. Just don't ask about his middle name! But Obama was able to set a record... he actually lied more in 60 days than Bill Clinton. As far as his administration -- what with the tax cheat and lobbyists -- well, in the words of Patches O'Houlihan, "It's like
19
watching a bunch of retards trying to hump a doorknob out there." ---------With all due respect.---------

Obama Wants Your Guns
By Bob Beers Sunday, September 20, 2009
Those who worship at the feet of the Messiah, Barack Hussein Obama, will probably yet again claim that this is a racist column and that CFP should immediately begin distancing themselves from its writer. Little do they know that the Canada Free Press publishes this column because we found each other to be of like minds. Liberals cannot conceive of something like that.
They are emphatically convinced that they are the majority opinion in the world and that those who disagree with them are at best deluded and at worst a danger to their “freedoms” that must be eliminated, the law be damned.
CBS, of all places, released a well written story dealing with the Second Amendment and the upcoming Supreme Court Case that will decide, yet again, whether or not American citizens can legally own firearms. Here is a snippet from that article: “Nobody has been hurt by the protesters who have legally carried guns to events where the president has been speaking, and I know of no evidence that they were even close enough to see the man. Nevertheless, Eleanor Holmes Norton, the District of Columbia’s non-voting Democratic rep in the U.S. House of Representatives, wants mandatory “gun-free zones around the president, his cabinet and other top federal officials,” according to a report by the local Fox affiliate. Similarly, the Brady Campaign told CBS News that guns have no place at such an event.”
Since the 1939 decision in United States v. Miller, liberals smugly understood that an individual’s right to own a gun was not protected by the constitution. They claimed that because of the “well regulated militia” line that the right was a collective rather than individual right. The ACLU, not an organization known for deep thinking, published an opinion on the recent Supreme Court’s 2008 decision in D.C. v. Heller where the court held for the first time that the Second Amendment protects an individual’s right to keep and bear arms, whether or not associated with a state militia.
The liberal left fought back, having friendly justices at the Ninth Circuit Court who were also uneasy with law abiding citizens packing heat in the same neighborhood as the President, even if their skin tone resembled his. They are feeling pretty smug again with the elevation of Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court, especially since she has a record of ignoring common sense and the law in favor of leftist agendas.
Several leftist pundits and writers have expressed disdain at those of us who warn of the dangers of Obama’s policies. Of course, few of them are as idiotically crass as former Presisdent Jimmy Carter and refrain from calling those who disagree with Obama racist, but many come awfully close. If you sneer at the statements of babbling fools like Louis Farrakhan or Jeremiah Wright you must be a racist, right? Funny thing is, if Doctor Martin Luther King were alive today, he would be one of those doing the sneering. Would they call him a racist?
Obama made a very telling statement. One he has tried to distance himself from, even going so far as to deny it came from him. He made the original comments while speaking to a group of wealthy California donors in San Francisco. This is the hot button portion:
“And it’s not surprising when they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.” In other words, when you see your freedoms being eroded, jobs being shipped overseas and illegal immigrants being given for free medical care you cannot afford, you shouldn’t become bitter. You should bless the government for being so compassionate. Don’t bother to read the Constitution, that’s something for your betters to understand.
Check out my column on the Second Amendment. What is really interesting about it is that not one of those lefties sending me hate mail has even tried to rebut my interpretation. As it is written the Second Amendment to the US Constitution is unequivocal in its granting of the individual right to own your own gun. Those who dispute this do so because that right interferes with their agenda. Obama has a willing lackey in Eleanor Holmes Norton. The question you need to ask yourself is, after two precedent-setting supreme court decisions establishing that right, why is he trying to overturn them?

The Debriefing...
"How are you? It's good to see you, even though it's late. I saw what happened, so I thought I'd meet you at The Gate. I can see you have several questions that you want to ask of Me. Like, what happened, why you, and what about your family. There is a lot you won't be able to understand right away. So you'll have to trust Me and take solace in what I say.
It's no surprise that you are here, you've been called home for a reason. The loved ones you left behind will be with you again in a season. It was all part of the plan, you know, that you chose to be one to fight. You were called from the beginning to protect others with your might.
You see, I warned everyone of evil, an evil very cunning. I warned the others to turn away, to hurry and
20
leave running. But if everybody turned from evil and simply ran away, then evil would rule because there would be none to beat them away
So I had to ask some of you instead to stay and fight. This, that evil be stayed, even turn and then take flight. I asked you few to do your duty, be fair and don't make the mistake of becoming cynical or callous; though it is one many did make.
I told you, few would understand the call to duty I put in you, and most would question your values and your love of family too. I told you some of you would fall and to take no worry of that. That I'd take care of you and your families where're they're at.
I'm aware that your death there caused tears at the hearts of your family, but trust Me, they'll receive love and peace from Me personally. Your children will be watched over, and I'll take care of them too. And in time they'll understand just what I asked of you.
That you be one of those to take up the sword and protect the rest. That you were chosen because you were among My bravest and my best. Yes, though I asked the others to run from evil with all their might, I thank you ...for being one who was willing stay the line and fight."
Dedicated to the Families and Friends of Those Who Have Lost Loved Ones Serving Our Country and The Cause of Freedom and Justice for All. God Bless You, ...Always.
Inspired by the day to day falling of our troops who are trying to give the mothers, their children and grandchildren of Afghanistan and Iraq: freedom. written by Officer Samuel Jeppsen #3751, Mesa PD, Mesa AZ.

And so closes another issue of the Sheepdog Rag. The sheepdog who wrote this shows his love for his sheep. The warrior Sheepdog that is spoken of is the real heroe for all of us and many of another country. Although these people are Muslems, still they are people. They know nothing but what they have lived in their lives and the loved ones who lived before them. Perhaps the sacrifice of our own will give the opportunity for a few of them to enter that same gate one day. They have no hope but what our heroes bring them. We all hope that this will give them cause to learn what love is. Their God is not a God of love or peace and the only way we are allowed to show them a God of peace is by our own actions. Meanwhile we have a fight of our own against those who would take our freedoms and make of us victums of the Muslems hate because we will have to fight them on our turf instead of theirs. Yes we will all be tempered for the battle in that it seems we might have to fight our own oppressive government. It is our fault because we got tangled in PC talk and divisive influences from stupid people used by evil people who want only money and power. Islam has but one goal. World domination. Islamic domination is just the opposite of the long time dream of the Christians who want the same thing. World domination. However the Christian seeks a world of love. Islam does not. The Christian dreams of peace on earth and good will towards men. Islam does not dream the same dream. There is a great battle coming. One like man has never before experienced.

From the Blog: A Short Lesson on the Supremacy Clause
"Do not separate text from historical background. If you do, you will have perverted and subverted the Constitution, which can only end in a distorted, bastardized form of illegitimate government." --James Madison
Freedom, Federalism and the Constitution
by Josh Eboch
Anyone who desires a constitutionally limited federal government should remember and celebrate that its limitations would necessarily cut both ways. Because if federal policy actually adhered to the letter of the Constitution, no single ideological camp could wield sufficient power to impose a set of beliefs on the entire country.
Which was exactly the point of our federalist system, and of the 10th Amendment. Beyond specific, enumerated federal powers, an infinite number of issues were intentionally left to the authority of the people through their state governments. And it is to the states that liberals, conservatives, and even libertarians must address all questions extending beyond the constitutional purview of federal authority.
There is no way to make everyone happy with every law, but abandoning the futile and divisive quest for a “one size fits all” centralized government, and returning the states to their rightful role as competing laboratories of democracy is a good start.
Before America can rediscover the promise of her founding, people on both sides of the aisle must come to grips with the fact that the federal government does not exist to impose on the nation either the Right’s or the Left’s vision of freedom, morality, or social justice.
The Constitution: It’s not just for Conservatives

Health Care:
If the framers had intended the federal government to establish and manage hospitals and Alms Houses within the states, they would no doubt have given it the explicit authority to do so. To misconstrue the general Welfare Clause in such a way as to conjure that authority out of thin air is to commit a blatant act of intellectual dishonesty.
In fact, regarding those words, “general welfare,” James Madison himself said: “To take them in a literal and unlimited sense would be a metamorphosis of the Constitution into a character which there is a host of proofs was not contemplated by its creators.”
This also includes Medicare and Social Security, both of which are preparing to default on a massive scale thanks to the sort of bureaucratic mismanagement and fiscal shell games at which governments excel.
Of course, nowhere does the Constitution say that states cannot establish and bankrupt their own socialized medicine or retirement schemes. See: Massachusetts and California.
Drugs:
George Washington and Thomas Jefferson were hemp farmers, and drugs themselves have existed in various forms for thousands of years. They were certainly not unknown to the framers of our national government. Yet, excepting the (repealed) 18th Amendment, there is no mention of drugs or prohibition in the Constitution.
It is thanks to an expansive and unlimited interpretation of the Commerce Clause that the federal government now claims the power to ban certain substances. But in 1787, the Commerce Clause was worded to make trade regular between the states by preventing protectionist tariffs, not to give Congress the power to impose national standards of morality on the marketplace.
In recent years, some states have tried to reassert their authority on this issue, but a senselessly violent war continues to be waged by the federal government against the personal purchasing decisions of people in every state.
Marriage:
The positive impact of creating social and financial bonds between consenting adults was likely as obvious in the eighteenth century as it is now. But the framers had a much healthier distrust of the federal government than we do today. They gave it no power to define marriage because the framers did not feel compelled to ask or grant the blessing of the federal government in forming private religious unions.
Neither do we need it today to legitimize private unions, religious or otherwise. But as long as both parties seek to engineer social policy through the federal income tax code, the issue of marriage will needlessly divide our country, and state governments will remain unable to fully implement their citizens’ will.
The list goes on and on, but the point remains the same: America was built on individualism and freedom of choice, and what’s right for one person or one state is not necessarily right for them all.
