The Sheep Dog Rag inspired by David Grossman
Second edition - August 2009
This is a free publication that will cover many issues.
Slim@outdrs.net
This is a free edition that is made up on a home computer and a home printer. We search many sources and try to print only that which we can legally copy and we feel is truth. Truth is not a wish but a fact. We have many sources but much of this comes off the internet. Also, since most of the Media will not publish many truths, we try to furnish those truths here. Unfortunately the mass media fails to tell you many things you need to know because they do not wish you to know. Much of what they give you is
1
twisted bias, some is unproven statements from the anti-gun crowd. Here we try to tell you truth only. If you should find something that disproves what we have said please tell us and we will investigate it. Although we attempt to print only the truth we are only human. If we find that a source is not reliable we will not use it again. There are many things that we get by e-mail. While these are entertaining sometimes they are not factual. There are many items out there that will make you mad at someone. Check them out to see if they are factual. Most are not. Some of what we get is from the mainstream media and of some interest. Most is not.
Much of what you will find here is so called gun news. It will be quite different than what you hear on the evening news for instance. Some sources are simply to large for our rag. So we will tell you about them and where to find them. Things such as Gun Facts. This is a PDF file and consists of over 100 pages of well documented facts. It refutes what you have been led to believe. I have heard so many parroting the stuff the anti-gun crowd screams that it makes me sick to heart. What they are parroting is not proven fact. It is mostly off the top of the head garbage. What really makes us sick is the needless deaths that this crap is causing. Read the truth and see if it does not make sense. This will also make one more effective in your arguments if you are not an anti-gun nut. In this issue you will find much on the subject. However this is not all you will learn.
There are people who are trying to destroy our country. They are taking advantage of a spoiled generation that knows little or nothing about our history because they were not taught anything in school. They were taught about the first thanksgiving in this country. That story is not factual. Not being totally factual discolors our history. We have been taught myths that have little to do with how things were. There are two publications on the net that are very factual. They are called “The Backside of American History #1 and #2” type it in your search engine. It is quite large and very entertaining reading.
Our main interest is that we not lose our freedom. That we do not become like other countries. We are in immediate danger of becoming a socialist country. Anyone who is familiar with world history, I do not mean foodstuffs and foibles and such, has to know that socialism has never worked and never will. For instance socialism goes back to ancient Rome and before. Rome became a socialist country and that’s when it fell. If socialism was so great, how come Russia, China, North Korea, Cuba, just to name a few, have such a lousy economy and the people are not free in neither thought word or deed.
We are attempting to reach those who do not agree with us or are undecided about the various subjects that will be found here. We will attempt to furnish well documented facts that will perhaps enlighten those who are not. Just please, if you do not agree with what you read here, gather documented fact and furnish us with it. We do not wish to be uninformed in any way. One thing though. Make sure it is documented so that it may be checked out by us. If what you say proves out we will publish it as soon as possible. Within the next two issues. If it does not check out, we will also publish it with documented fact that disproves what you say as soon as possible. If anyone sees such in this publication either pro or con, please notify us. Our e-mail is on the cover bottom center. If enough people e-mail us, we will e-mail copies of each issue to you if you wish. (a bunch cheaper than printing it) We were only able to get out 50 issues this first time. Each time we will try to expand some and get it in new places. We will otherwise try to keep it in the same places each month.
Any article you wish to submit to us for consideration in our publication will be welcome. If you wish to write a short article we will try to get it into the next issue. We hope to establish a cheers and jeers section soon also. If we get enough people on line at the e-mail listed we will see about setting up a blog site also. If you like what you see and care to donate a little bit to help us expand tell us. We can use all the help we can get. Paper and ink cost money. This first edition has already taken up more than 40 hours of our time. We will get more efficient as we learn.
On Sheep Wolves and Sheep Dogs by David Grossman is furnished in this first edition. This is an attempt to inform all of just where we are coming from. Our main motivation so to speak. All of this is because we love the sheep. We love our country. We love our freedom. We worry about the economy. We worry about the ability of all to defend themselves and fear for those who refuse to defend themselves. Read the article and you will understand. And this, to us, is not just about guns but about many things that do not bode well for any of us.
Thank you and may God Bless You and yours.

By LTC (RET) Dave Grossman, author of "On Killing."
Honor never grows old, and honor rejoices the heart of age. It does so because honor is, finally, about defending those noble and worthy things that
2
deserve defending, even if it comes at a high cost. In our time, that may mean social disapproval, public scorn, hardship, persecution, or as always, even death itself. The question remains: What is worth defending? What is worth dying for? What is worth living for? - William J. Bennett - in a lecture to the United States Naval Academy November 24, 1997 One Vietnam veteran, an old retired colonel, once said this to me: "Most of the people in our society are sheep. They are kind, gentle, productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident." This is true. Remember, the murder rate is six per 100,000 per year, and the aggravated assault rate is four per 1,000 per year. What this means is that the vast majority of Americans are not inclined to hurt one another. Some estimates say that two million Americans are victims of violent crimes every year, a tragic, staggering number, perhaps an all-time record rate of violent crime. But there are almost 300 million Americans, which means that the odds of being a victim of violent crime is considerably less than one in a hundred on any given year. Furthermore, since many violent crimes are committed by repeat offenders, the actual number of violent citizens is considerably less than two million. Thus there is a paradox, and we must grasp both ends of the situation: We may well be in the most violent times in history, but violence is still remarkably rare. This is because most citizens are kind, decent people who are not capable of hurting each other, except by accident or under extreme provocation. They are sheep. I mean nothing negative by calling them sheep. To me it is like the pretty, blue robin's egg. Inside it is soft and gooey but someday it will grow into something wonderful. But the egg cannot survive without its hard blue shell. Police officers, soldiers, and other warriors are like that shell, and someday the civilization they protect will grow into something wonderful.? For now, though, they need warriors to protect them from the predators.
"Then there are the wolves," the old war veteran said, "and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy." Do you believe there are wolves out there who will feed on the flock without mercy? You better believe it. There are evil men in this world and they are capable of evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep. There is no safety in denial.
"Then there are sheepdogs," he went on, "and I'm a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf."
If you have no capacity for violence then you are a healthy productive citizen, a sheep. If you have a capacity for violence and no empathy for your fellow citizens, then you have defined an aggressive sociopath, a wolf. But what if you have a capacity for violence, and a deep love for your fellow citizens? What do you have then? A sheepdog, a warrior. Someone who is walking the hero's path. Someone who can walk into the heart of darkness, into the universal human phobia, and walk out unscathed.
Let me expand on this old soldier's excellent model of the sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs. We know that the sheep live in denial, that is what makes them sheep. They do not want to believe that there is evil in the world. They can accept the fact that fires can happen, which is why they want fire extinguishers, fire sprinklers, fire
3
alarms and fire exits throughout their kids' schools. But many of them are outraged at the idea of putting an armed police officer in their kid's school. Our children are thousands of times more likely to be killed or seriously injured by school violence than fire, but the sheep's only response to the possibility of violence is denial. The idea of someone coming to kill or harm their child is just too hard, and so they chose the path of denial.
The sheep generally do not like the sheepdog. He looks a lot like the wolf. He has fangs and the capacity for violence. The difference, though, is that the sheepdog must not, can not and will not ever harm the sheep. Any sheep dog who intentionally harms the lowliest little lamb will be punished and removed. The world cannot work any other way, at least not in a representative democracy or a republic such as ours.
Still, the sheepdog disturbs the sheep. He is a constant reminder that there are wolves in the land. They would prefer that he didn't tell them where to go, or give them traffic tickets, or stand at the ready in our airports in camouflage fatigues holding an M-16. The sheep would much rather have the sheepdog cash in his fangs, spray paint himself white, and go, "Baa."
Until the wolf shows up. Then the entire flock tries desperately to hide behind one lonely sheepdog. The students, the victims, at Columbine High School were big, tough high school students, and under ordinary circumstances they would not have had the time of day for a police officer. They were not bad kids; they just had nothing to say to a cop. When the school was under attack, however, and SWAT teams were clearing the rooms and hallways, the officers had to physically peel those clinging, sobbing kids off of them. This is how the little lambs feel about their sheepdog when the wolf is at the door. Look at what happened after September 11, 2001 when the wolf pounded hard on the door. Remember how America, more than ever before, felt differently about their law enforcement officers and military personnel? Remember how many times you heard the word hero?
Understand that there is nothing morally superior about being a sheepdog; it is just what you choose to be. Also understand that a sheepdog is a funny critter: He is always sniffing around out on the perimeter, checking the breeze, barking at things that go bump in the night, and yearning for a righteous battle. That is, the young sheepdogs yearn for a righteous battle. The old sheepdogs are a little older and wiser, but they move to the sound of the guns when needed right along with the young ones.
Here is how the sheep and the sheepdog think differently. The sheep pretend the wolf will never come, but the sheepdog lives for that day, knows it will come. After the attacks on September 11, 2001, most of the sheep, that is, most citizens in America said, "Thank God I wasn't on one of those planes." The sheepdogs, the warriors, said, "Dear God, I wish I could have been on one of those planes. Maybe I could have made a difference." When you are truly transformed into a warrior and have truly invested yourself into warrior hood, you want to be there. You want to be able to make a difference.
There is nothing morally superior about the sheepdog, the warrior, but he does have one real advantage. Only one. And that is that he is able to survive and thrive in an environment that destroys 98 percent of the population.
4
There was research conducted a few years ago with individuals convicted of violent crimes. These cons were in prison for serious, predatory crimes of violence: assaults, murders and killing law enforcement officers. The vast majority said that they specifically targeted victims by body language: slumped walk, passive behavior and lack of awareness. They chose their victims like big cats do in Africa, when they select one out of the herd that is least able to protect itself.
Some people may be destined to be sheep and others might be genetically primed to be wolves or sheepdogs. But I believe that most people can choose which one they want to be, and I'm proud to say that more and more Americans are choosing to become sheepdogs.
Seven months after the attack on September 11, 2001, Todd Beamer was honored in his hometown of Cranbury, New Jersey. Todd, as you recall, was the man on Flight 93 over Pennsylvania who called on his cell phone to alert an operator from United Airlines about the hijacking. When he learned of the other three passenger planes that had been used as weapons, Todd dropped his phone and uttered the words, "Let's roll," which authorities believe was a signal to the other passengers to confront the terrorist hijackers. In one hour, a transformation occurred among the passengers - athletes, business people and parents. -- from sheep to sheepdogs and together they fought the wolves, ultimately saving an unknown number of lives on the ground.
There is no safety for honest men except by believing all possible evil of evil men. - Edmund Burke
Here is the point I like to emphasize, especially to the thousands of police officers and soldiers I speak to each year. In nature the sheep, real sheep, are born as sheep. Sheepdogs are born that way, and so are wolves. They didn't have a choice. But you are not a critter. As a human being, you can be whatever you want to be. It is a conscious, moral decision. If you want to be a sheep, then you can be a sheep and that is okay, but you must understand the price you pay. When the wolf comes, you and your loved ones are going to die if there is not a sheepdog there to protect you. If you want to be a wolf, you can be one, but the sheepdogs are going to hunt you down and you will never have rest, safety, trust or love. But if you want to be a sheepdog and walk the warrior's path, then you must make a conscious and moral decision every day to dedicate, equip and prepare yourself to thrive in that toxic, corrosive moment when the wolf comes knocking at the door.
For example, many officers carry their weapons in church. They are well concealed in ankle holsters, shoulder holsters or inside-the-belt holsters tucked into the small of their backs. Anytime you go to some form of religious service, there is a very good chance that a police officer in your congregation is carrying. You will never know if there is such an individual in your place of worship, until the wolf appears to massacre you and your loved ones.
I was training a group of police officers in Texas, and during the break, one officer asked his friend if he carried his weapon in church. The other cop replied, "I will never be caught without my gun in church." I asked why he felt so strongly about this, and he told me about a cop who was at a church massacre in Ft. Worth, TX.
5
In 1999. In that incident, a mentally deranged individual came into the church and opened fire, gunning down fourteen people. He said that officer believed he could have saved every life that day if he had been carrying his gun. His own son was shot, and all he could do was throw himself on the boy's body and wait to die. That cop looked me in the eye and said, "Do you have any idea how hard it would be to live with yourself after that?"
Some individuals would be horrified if they knew this police officer was carrying a weapon in church. They might call him paranoid and would probably scorn him. Yet these same individuals would be enraged and would call for "heads to roll" if they found out that the airbags in their cars were defective, or that the fire extinguisher and fire sprinklers in their kids' school did not work. They can accept the fact that fires and traffic accidents can happen and that there must be safeguards against them. Their only response to the wolf, though, is denial, and all too often their response to the sheepdog is scorn and disdain. But the sheepdog quietly asks himself, "Do you have and idea how hard it would be to live with yourself if your loved ones were attacked and killed, and you had to stand there helplessly because you were unprepared for that day?"
It is denial that turns people into sheep. Sheep are psychologically destroyed by combat because their only defense is denial, which is counterproductive and destructive, resulting in fear, helplessness and horror when the wolf shows up. Denial kills you twice. It kills you once, at your moment of truth when you are not physically prepared: you didn't bring your gun, you didn't train. Your only defense was wishful thinking. Hope is not a strategy. Denial kills you a second time because even if you do physically survive, you are psychologically shattered by your fear helplessness and horror at your moment of truth.
Gavin de Becker puts it like this in "Fear Less," his superb post-9/11 book, which should be required reading for anyone trying to come to terms with our current world situation: "...denial can be seductive, but it has an insidious side effect. For all the peace of mind deniers think they get by saying it isn't so, the fall they take when faced with new violence is all the more unsettling." Denial is a save-now-pay-later scheme, a contract written entirely in small print, for in the long run, the denying person knows the truth on some level.
And so the warrior must strive to confront denial in all aspects of his life, and prepare himself for the day when evil comes. If you are warrior who is legally authorized to carry a weapon and you step outside without that weapon, then you become a sheep, pretending that the bad man will not come today. No one can be
"on" 24/7, for a lifetime. Everyone needs down time. But if you are authorized to carry a weapon, and you walk outside without it, just take a deep breath, and say this to yourself... "Baa."
This business of being a sheep or a sheep dog is not a yes-no dichotomy. It is not an all-or-nothing, either-or choice. It is a matter of degrees, a continuum. On one end is an abject, head-in-the-sand-sheep and on the other end is the ultimate warrior. Few people exist completely on one end or the other. Most of us live
6
somewhere in between. Since 9-11 almost everyone in America took a step up that continuum, away from denial. The sheep took a few steps toward accepting and appreciating their warriors, and the warriors started taking their job more seriously. The degree to which you move up that continuum, away from sheep hood and denial, is the degree to which you and your loved ones will survive, physically and psychologically at your moment of truth.

SOCIAL HARMONY
The good youths are guided and disciplined by old men.
By Grim Beorn
I was reading an article, in the local newspaper, about an elderly Korean gentleman who has moved into town and opened a martial arts studio. He chastened the reporter who had come to interview him not to suggest that the martial arts were all about fighting. “No!” he said. “The purpose is social harmony.”
That is exactly right. The secret of social harmony is simple. Old men must be dangerous.
Very nearly all the violence that plagues, rather than protects, society is the work of young males between the ages of fourteen and thirty. A substantial amount of the violence that protects rather than plagues society is performed by other members of the same group. The reasons for this predisposition are generally rooted in biology, which is to say that they are not going anywhere, in spite of the current fashion that suggests doping half the young with Ritalin.
The question is how to move these young men from the first group (violent and predatory) into the second (violent but protective). This is to ask: what is the difference between a street gang and the Marine Corps, or a thug and a policeman? In every case, we see that the good youths are guided and disciplined by old men. This is half the answer to the problem.
But do we not try to discipline and guide the others? If we catch them at their menace, don’t we put them into prisons or programs where they are monitored, disciplined, and exposed to “rehabilitation”? the rates of recidivism are such that we can’t say that these programs are successful at all, unless the person being “rehabilitated” wants and chooses to be. And this is the other half of the answer: the discipline and the guidance must be voluntarily accepted. The Marine enlists; the criminal must likewise choose to accept what is offered.
The Eastern martial arts provide an experience very much like that of Boot Camp. The master, like the Drill Instructor, is a disciplined man of great personal prowess. He is an exemplar. He asks nothing of you he can’t, or won’t do himself--and there are very many things he can and will do that are beyond you, though you have all the help of youth and strength. It is on this ground that acceptance of discipline is won. It is the ground of admiration, and what wins the admiration of these young men is martial prowess.
Everyone who was once a young man will understand what I mean. Who could look forward, at the age of sixteen or eighteen, to a life of obedience, dressed in suits or uniforms, sitting or standing behind a desk? How were you to respect or care about the laws , or the wishes , of men who had accepted such a life? The difficulty is compounded in poor communities, where the jobs undertaken are often menial. How can you respect your father if your father is a servant? Would you not be accepting a place twice as low as his? Would you not rather take up a sword, and cut yourself a new place? Meekness in the old men of the community unmakes the social order: it encourages rebellion from the young.
The traditional martial arts tend to teach young men to undertake flashy and impressive, but not terribly effective, fighting techniques. Only as you grow older do the masters of the art teach you the real secrets--the subtle, quick, physically simple ways in which the human body can be destroyed. In this way the old retain their power over the young Although they lack the speed and strength, they have in discipline in training more than enough to maintain the order. Social harmony is maintained in the dojo: the young revere the old, and seek to emulate them. Your father may be a servant, but he is still a warrior--and a more dangerous one than you. The father, being past that age in which biology makes us vicious, guides the son or neighbor to protect society rather than to rend it. It is not particularly different than the military.
If we would have a stable society, we must have dangerous old men. This means that, if you are yourself on your way to becoming an old men, you have a duty to society to begin your preparations. The martial arts are not the only road--my own grandfather did it through a simple combination of physical strength, personal discipline, and an accustomed habit of going armed about his business. There was never a more impressive figure--or, at least, there was never a boy more impressed than was I.
The martial virtues are exactly the ones needed. By a happy coincidence, having a society whose members adhere to and encourage those virtues makes us freer as well--we need fewer police, fewer courts, fewer prisons, fewer laws and fewer lawyers. This is what Aristotle meant when he said that the virtues of the man are reflected in the society. Politics and ethics are naturally joined. 7

In today’s society, just like it has always been, each and every one of us is responsible for the safety of ourselves and our loved ones at least. My father taught me how to survive an encounter using only my bare hands. It served me well. I was in my sixties and still very able to take care of myself. He also taught me to shoot with rifle and handgun. I taught myself speed and accuracy and such. I and my son and grandsons are considered dangerous.

INSIDE WASHINGTON: Taxpayers to get rude surprise
INSIDE WASHINGTON: Millions of couples, retirees may have to repay some of Obama tax credit
By Stephen Ohlemacher, Associated Press Writer
On Thursday April 30, 2009, 6:55 pm EDT
Buzz up! 3856 Print. WASHINGTON (AP) -- Millions of Americans enjoying their small windfall from President Barack Obama's "Making Work Pay" tax credit are in for an unpleasant surprise next spring. The government is going to want some of that money back.
The tax credit is supposed to provide up to $400 to individuals and $800 to married couples as part of the massive economic recovery package enacted in February. Most workers started receiving the credit through small increases in their paychecks in the past month.
But new tax withholding tables issued by the IRS could cause millions of taxpayers to get hundreds of dollars more than they are entitled to under the credit, money that will have to be repaid at tax time.
At-risk taxpayers include a broad swath of the public: married couples in which both spouses work; workers with more than one job; retirees who have federal income taxes withheld from their pension payments and Social Security recipients with jobs that provide taxable income.
The Internal Revenue Service acknowledges problems with the withholding tables but has done little to warn average taxpayers.
"They need to get the Goodyear blimp out there on this," said Tom Ochsenschlager, vice president of taxation for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
For many, the new tax tables will simply mean smaller-than-expected tax refunds next year, IRS spokesman Terry Lemons said. The average refund was nearly $2,700 this year.
But taxpayers who calculate their withholding so they get only small refunds could face an unwelcome tax bill next April, said Jackie Perlman, an analyst with the Tax Institute at H&R Block.
"They are going to get a surprise," she said.
Perlman's advice: check your federal withholding to make sure sufficient taxes are being taken out of your pay. If you are married and both spouses work, you might consider having taxes withheld at the higher rate for single filers. If you have multiple jobs, you might consider having extra taxes withheld by one of your employers. You can make that request with a Form W-4.
The IRS has a calculator on its Web site to help taxpayers figure withholding. So do many private tax preparers.
Obama has touted the tax credit as one of the big achievements of his first 100 days in
office, boasting that 95 percent of working families will qualify in 2009 and 2010.
The credit pays workers 6.2 percent of their earned income, up to a maximum of $400 for individuals and $800 for married couples who file jointly. Individuals making more $95,000 and couples making more than $190,000 are ineligible.
The tax credit was designed to help boost the economy by getting more money to consumers in their regular paychecks. Employers were required to start using the new withholding tables by April 1.
The tables, however, don't take into account several common categories of taxpayers, experts said. For example:
--A single worker with two jobs making $20,000 a year at each job will get a $400 boost in take-home pay at each of them, for a total of $800. That worker, however, is eligible for a maximum credit of $400, so the remaining $400 will have to be paid back at tax time -- either through a smaller refund or a payment to the IRS.
The IRS recognized there could be a similar problem for married couples if both spouses work, so it adjusted the withholding tables. The fix, however, was imperfect.
8
-- A married couple with a combined income of $50,000 is eligible for an $800 credit. However, if both spouses work and make more than $13,000, the new withholding tables give them each a $600 boost -- for a total of $1,200.
There were 33 million married couples in 2008 in which both spouses worked. That's 55 percent of all married couples, according to the Census Bureau.
-- A single college student with a part-time job making $10,000 would get a $400 boost in pay. However, if that student is claimed as a dependent on a parent's tax return, she doesn't qualify for the credit and would have to repay it when she files next year.
Some retirees face even bigger headaches.
The Social Security Administration is sending out $250 payments to more than 50 million retirees in May as part of the economic stimulus package. The payments will go to people who receive Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, railroad retirement benefits or veteran's disability benefits.
The payments are meant to provide a boost for people who don't qualify for the tax credit. However, they will go to retirees even if they have earned income and receive the credit. Those retirees will have the $250 payment deducted from their tax credit -- but not until they file their tax returns next year, long after the money may have been spent.
Retirees who have federal income taxes withheld from pension benefits also are getting an income boost as a result of the new withholding tables. However, pension benefits are not earned income, so they don't qualify for the tax credit. That money will have to paid back next year when tax returns are filed.
More than 20 million retirees and survivors receive payments from defined benefit pension plans, according to the Employee Benefit Research Institute. However, it is unclear how many have federal taxes withheld from their payments.
The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees union raised concerns about the effect of the tax credit on pension payments in a letter to Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner in March.
Geithner responded that Treasury and IRS understood the concerns and were "exploring ways to mitigate that effect."
Rep. Dave Camp of Michigan, the top Republican on the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, said Geithner has yet to respond to concerns raised by committee members.
"So far we've got the, 'If we don't address this maybe it will go away' approach," Camp said.
Pointed Argument
By Rich Grassi
This edition of the wire has a pair of editorials from yours truly, which we wouldn't have if it weren't for the lunacy of a big part the East Coast of the United States (if I were dyslexic, it'd be the "Untied States" by now.)
In our first installment of "what are they thinking?" we have the New York Times. Actually, the Times is overrepresented here today and is in both sections of "Editor's Notebook."
Starting with the most recent pain in my psyche, the paper reports breathlessly "knife killings" in New York were up by fifty percent in 2008. Yeah, that's right. "Knife killings." Remember the good old days, when it was "gun crime?" Me too. Follow along on this one.
Our pet loons at the paper have determined that authorities "battling illegal firearms" had "a degree of success." Had they only battled violent criminals by having a career offender surveillance program, the crime rates would have fallen further. That likely takes too much effort. But, as "gun
9
killings" dwindled, the number of homicides committed with sharp implements rose . . . from 83 in a year to 125. In a city where 3,000 lives were snuffed out in less than an hour one day, 125 cutting homicides has them excited. In a world where there is no longer a "Global War on Terror," this is interesting.
The problem? Knives are easily acquired and legal, according to Paul Browne, chief spokesman for the NYPD. They are easily obtained and concealed. Plus, nearly every home has a knife. (Just ONE?) There are homes with no guns. And it just shouldn't be that way? Who needs such sharp implements? And why would you need so many? (And just who's business is it, anyway?) Steak knives? If you'd eat quiche and soft vegetables, you wouldn't need such sharp knives.
They used gun buy-back programs in their war on guns. But a war on pocket knives or steak knives? "The city would go bankrupt." I know this may be a surprise but the people who think that "knife control" would make them safe are intellectually bankrupt now. They may as well spend the money. Hell, a tourist with the family's kitchen cutlery could likely make enough from New York City to pay his mortgage for a month. Besides, replacements are cheap, easily obtained and legal everywhere.
Oh, yeah. That's the problem. Knives. Not the violent behavior, it's the gear that is the problem. Do you catch the trend here? Can you see what they're doing? All the time I've been alive, there's been goofballs who
seek to control me by controlling what I possess and own. Until now, it was
guns. Who needs them?
When they ban stuff they prove their intellectual illegitimacy.
Only bans on behavior - yes, that means we have to judge people based on their actions - are legitimate exercises of government power as relates to crime. Remember the prohibition on alcohol - worse than a waste of time, it increased violent crimes.
I know, people are too stupid to be responsible. You go tell them. I'll wait on you here.

Two of the three Virginia law students who overpowered a gunman in a fatal school shooting were armed and used their weapons to disarm the shooter.
Yet of the 280 stories written about the shooting, a mere four mentioned the fact that the heroic students were armed and used their guns to halt the rampage.
That’s according to Dr. John Lott, a resident scholar at American Enterprise Institute and the author of the widely acclaimed book “More Guns, Less Crime.”

Writing in Friday’s edition of the New York Post, Lott reported on last week’s shooting at Appalachian School of Law. Nigerian student Peter Odighizuwa is accused of killing the dean, L. Anthony Sutin, 42 – a former acting assistant U.S. attorney general and campaign worker for Bill Clinton – professor Thomas Blackwell, 41, and student Angela Denise Dales, 33.
Noting that the rampage was widely covered in the world’s media, Lott wrote: “As usual, there were calls for more gun control. “Yet in this age of ‘gun-free school zones,’ the vast majority of news reports ignored the fact that the attack was stopped by two students who had guns in their cars. The quick response by two of the students, Mikael Gross, 34, and Tracy Bridges, 25, undoubtedly saved multiple lives,” Lott reported. According to Lott: Having just returned from lunch, Gross was outside the law school building when Odighizuwa began shooting. Bridges was inside, waiting for class to start. When the sound of shooting erupted, panic ensued. “People were running everywhere. They were jumping behind cars, running out in front of traffic, trying to get away,” Gross said.
Instead of joining in the chaos, Gross and Bridges ran to their cars and got their guns. Joined by an unarmed Ted Besen, an ex-Marine and police officer, the three men approached the shooter from different sides. “I aimed my gun at him, and Peter tossed his gun down,” Bridges recalled.
“Ted approached Peter, and Peter hit Ted in the jaw. Ted pushed him back, and we all jumped on.”
Wrote Lott: “What is so remarkable is that out of 280 separate news stories (from a computerized Nexis-Lexis search) in the week after the event, just four stories mentioned that the students who stopped the attack had guns. “Only two local newspapers (the Richmond Times-Dispatch and the Charlotte Observer) mentioned that the students actually pointed their guns at the attacker.” Lott cited the liberal, anti-gun Washington Post, which reported that the heroes had simply “helped subdue” the killer. The leftist, anti-gun New York Times, not surprisingly, noted only that the attacker was “tackled by fellow students.” “Most in the media who discussed how the attack was stopped said: ’students overpowered a gunman,’ ’students ended the rampage by tackling him,’ ‘the gunman was tackled by four male students before being arrested,’ or ‘Students ended the rampage by confronting and then tackling the gunman, who dropped his weapon.’”
Such selective reporting is not unusual, Lott noted. “In the other public school shootings where citizens with guns have stopped attacks, rarely do more than 1 percent of the news stories mention that citizens with guns stopped the attacks. Lott cited research showing there are 2 million defensive gun uses each year. “After all, if these events were really happening, wouldn’t we hear about them on the news? But when was the last time you saw a story on the national evening news (or even the local news) about a citizen using his gun to stop a crime?”
11
Such “misreporting actually endangers people’s lives,” Lott concluded. “By selectively reporting the news and turning a defensive gun use story into one where students merely ‘overpowered a gunman’ the media gives misleading impressions of what works when people are confronted by violence. “Research consistently shows that having a gun is the safest way to respond to any type of criminal attack, especially these multiple victim shootings.

For those of you who are on the internet, google “gun facts” on the second page find Gun Facts 5.0 . This is a PDF file and easily downloadable and printable. It Counters, with proven fact, the lies mainstream media and gun control foster. Every claim by the gun control crowd is refuted with facts and figures that come from unimpeachable sources. It is the most comprehensive document I have ever seen on the subject. It was completed in 08 I think so it is also the most recent. Its old one 4.0 is on the front page. I am sure most of you have heard of “Saturday night specials”, “Cop killer bullets”, “Assault weapons”, “thousands of deaths of children every year by guns”, and many other myths. The fact is none of those items have ever existed. How about the 50 cal. Sniper rifle? Can it really bring down an aircraft? What is its range? Is it really a first choice for anyone? How about assault weapons? Are they a problem anywhere? Read all about it. The plain unadulterated fact is the gun control nuts haven’t really got a leg to stand on. The media has an agenda. Therefore you will get nothing but lies and distortions out of these idiots.
We have a bunch of left wingers that have lost their minds. They actually believe that socialism is some kind of utopia. Look at history. This thing has been around since the time of Christ. In fact it is what destroyed Rome. Socialism has never worked anywhere and never will. Russia was in much better shape under the Tsars and that was no picnic for the people.
Gun control has killed millions on millions of people. When gun control is established and guns are registered, it has always led to confiscation. That in turn has cost many lives because nobody had the means to defend themselves. Besides that guns do not kill people! It is the person with his finger on the trigger that does the killing. A gun is an inanimate object. Kill the user of the gun who commits crimes with it and you will decimate the criminal element. So they will go to knives. Same problem, same solution. It has been said that an armed society is a polite society. You BETCHA! Your sweet and kindly editor.

WHAT THE GREAT MINDS HAVE SAID ABOUT GUN COUNTOL
DAVE GIBSON
The recent Supreme Court decision which struck-down Washington D.C.’s ban on handguns, also banned localities from interfering with a citizen’s tight to keep and bear arms. The Courts 5-4 decision read:
12
“the Second Amendment protects and individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.”
The framers of the constitution understood the necessity for American citizens to keep and bear arms. Unfortunately, our society has been so influenced by those on the left, that many of us now believe that we should give up that right…Thus leaving ourselves, our homes, and even our loved-ones at the mercy of the criminals. You see, gun laws only affect the law-abiding.
We constantly hear about the importance of background checks being implemented by gun store owners. However criminals do not purchase their weapons in legitimate gun shops. It would be cost prohibitive and leave a paper trail, even without background checks. Why would they pay several hundreds of dollars for a gun, when they can buy one on the street for a fraction of the price or simply steal one?
Of course, most of those on the left choose to ignore this fact. Background checks and waiting periods do nothing, except put barriers between American citizens and their ability to defend themselves.
In most states, one needs a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Once again, the only people who observe this law are the law-abiding, thus making this measure useless. A few years ago, Virginia legislators passed a bill which banned citizens from carrying concealed weapons into an establishment which serves alcohol. Even with a concealed-carry permit, it became a felony to enter a bar with a gun which is hidden from plain view…Another piece of legislation giving an upper hand to the criminals.
Laws which prohibit law-abiding citizens from possessing and carrying firearms are not lost on criminals. It is no coincidence that in the 32 years since the District of Columbia placed a ban on the ownership of handguns , the number of crimes against individuals (rape, robbery, murder) soared.
Criminals are also keenly aware of the prospect of an armed citizen and will almost always steer clear of potential victims who may be armed.
In 1982, Kennesaw, Ga. Passed a law which required heads of household to have a least one gun in the house. The burglary rate immediately dropped and astounding 89%. Ten years after the law was passed, the burglary rate was still 72% less than in 1981.
The idea of gun control and the need to defend one’s self is not a new one. Much has been said on the subject, even before guns were invented. The need to protect you and yours is as natural as breathing. Of course, as with all natural instincts, there will be those attempting to legislate it away.
What follows is a small collection of what many of man’s greatest minds have said on the right to possess arms.
Cicero: “Civilized people are taught by logic, barbarians , by necessity, communities by tradition; and the lesson inculcated even in wild beasts by nature itself. They learn that they have to defend their own bodies and persons lives from violence of any and every kind by all means within their power.”
James Madison, while criticizing the governments of Europe: which “were afraid to trust the people with arms” and argued for “the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over almost every nation.”
Richard Henry Lee (a framer of the bill of rights): “To preserve liberty , it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them.”
George Orwell: “Rifles, muskets, long bows and hand grenades are inherently democratic weapons. A complex weapon makes the strong stronger, while a simple weapon, so long as there is no answer to it, gives claws to the weak.”
President of the congress of Racial equality Roy Ennis: “to make inexpensive guns impossible to get is to say that you’re putting a money test on getting a gun. It’s racism at its worst form.”
President John F. Kennedy: “Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom.”
Mahatma Gandhi: “Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the act of depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest.”
Even Jesus weighed in on the subject in the Book of Luke: “when I sent you out barefoot without a purse or pack, were you ever short of anything?…It is different now, whoever has a purse had better take it with him, and his pack too. And if he has no sword, let him sell his cloak to by one.”
Since people have had the opportunity as well as the need to arm themselves, there have been those attempting to rob them of this right. It was as true in Colonial America as it is today, and just as it was in
13
Hitler’s Germany. In 1938, the Nazis enacted a gun-control act, which robbed not only Jews , but all citizens of the right to defend themselves. Some 30 million Jewish people were then murdered, plus any who tried to help them.
In 1942, Hitler made the following statement: “The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to permit the conquered Eastern peoples to have arms. History teaches that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by doing so.”
Near the end of World War 2, the Japanese leader Tojo once said that the reason Japan never invaded the mainland of the United States was because, “there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.” Americans’ right to keep and bear arms has served us well. It is also a well known fact that well armed citizens prevent crimes from occurring, and many of those armed citizens have sent thousands of violent criminals on their way to hell.
The fact is, the police cannot be everywhere at once. If you choose not to defend yourself or your family, that is your absurd decision and I wish you luck. However, for those of us who choose to exercise our Second Amendment right…remember the old adage: “it is better to be judged by twelve than carried by six!”.

In Russia, there is no right of the citizens to keep and bear privately held firearms. For the most part, only the police and the military have the right to arms in Russia.
An anti-gun advocate might think that without a Second Amendment-like right of the citizens to keep and bear arms, that murders would be nearly unheard of. But alas, the truth is very enlightening. Of the top eighty three (83) countries in the world, Russia finds themselves in second (2nd) place in terms of overall murders, with an alarming total of 28,904.
Now one might say to me, sure Marc, but that's not a per capita rate. But I would remind the skeptic that Russia has a population of just 140.7 million, while the United States has a population of 303.8 million and is fifth (5th) in the world in total murders with 16,204. Switzerland, which has nearly universal firearm ownership per household only had 213 total murders in the same year.
Comparing the three countries, Russia, United States and Switzerland, you can clearly see that Switzerland is the safest, with one murder for every 35,211 citizens. The United States has one murder for every 18,748 citizens and Russia without a citizen's right to private arms appallingly sees one murder for every 4,867 citizens.
So Russians typically experience 245 more murders per week than the United States of America, with no right to keep and bear private arms, while having 163.1 million fewer citizens. The conclusion that we can glean from this is that a population without a right to keep and bear arms is not necessarily a safer one. Not by a long shot apparently.

AN UPDATE FROM OKLAHOMA
The state law passed today, 37 to 9, had a few liberals in the mix, an amendment to place the Ten Commandments on the front entrance to the state capitol. The feds in D.C., along with the ACLU, said it would be a mistake. Hey this is a conservative state, based on Christian values...!
Guess what..........We did it anyway!
We recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from, unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen. They all scattered. Hope we didn't send any of them to your state. This was against the advice of the Federal Government, and the ACLU, they said it would be a mistake.
Guess what..........we did it anyway!
Yesterday we passed a law to include DNA samples from any and all illegal’s to the Oklahoma database, for criminal investigative purposes. Pelosi said it was unconstitutional.
Guess what..........we did it anyway!
Several weeks ago, we passed a law, declaring Oklahoma as a Sovereign state, not under the Federal Government directives. That, for your information, makes Oklahoma and Texas the only states to do so. 14
Guess what..........we did it anyway!
.More states are likely to follow. Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, both Carolina's, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, just to name a few. Should Mississippi act, so will Florida. Save your confederate money, it appears the South is about to rise up once again
The federal Government has made bold steps to take away our guns. Oklahoma, a week ago, passed a law confirming people in this state have the right to bear arms and transport them in their vehicles. I'm sure that was a set back for the Kennedy’s and Ms Pelosi.
Guess what..........we did it anyway!
By the way, Obama does not like any of this.
Guess what....who cares...were doing it anyway.

If this was not so true it would be funny!
A Harley rider is passing the zoo, when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage. Suddenly,
the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes her screaming parents. The biker jumps off his bike, runs to the cage and hits the lion square on the nose with a powerful punch. Whimpering from the pain the lion jumps back letting go of the girl, and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.
A New York Times reporter has watched the whole event. The reporter says, “Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I saw a man do in my whole life.” The biker replies, ‘Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right.”
The reporter says, “Well, I'm a journalist from the New York Times, and tomorrow's paper will have this story on the front page... So, what do you do for a living and what political affiliation do you have?”
The biker replies, “I’m a U.S. Marine and a Republican.”
The following morning the biker buys The New York Times to see if it indeed brings news of his actions, and reads, on front page:
"U.S. MARINE ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS HIS LUNCH!”

What did Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower have in common?
Here is something that should be of great interest for you to pass around. I didn't know of this until it was pointed out to me.
Back during The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work..
Harry Truman deported over two million Illegal's after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans.
And then again in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 3 million Mexican Nationals! The program was called Operation Wetback'. It was done so WWII and Korean Veterans would have a better chance at jobs. It took 2 Years, but they deported them! Now if they could deport the illegal's back then - they could sure do it today?
lf you have doubts about the veracity of this information, enter Operation Wetback into your favorite search engine and confirm it for yourself.
Reminder: Don't forget to pay your taxes...12 million Illegal Aliens are depending on you!

-Coal-burning electricity plant in Kansas. (CNSNews.com)-
The stimulus law enacted in February promoted the purchase of plug-in electric cars by the federal government and the broader market, but a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report released this month says that the use of plug-in electric vehicles will not by itself decrease greenhouse gas emissions.
15
To do that, the report argues, the United States would have to switch from coal-burning plants to lower-emission sources to generate electricity such as nuclear power. “If you are using coal fired power plants and half the country’s electricity comes from coal powered plants, are you just trading one greenhouse gas emitter for another?” Mark Gaffigan, co-author of the GAO report and a specialist in energy issues told CNSNews.com.
The report found that the adoption of plug-in cars could result in benefits, including reduced petroleum consumption and dependency. But it concedes that in regions of the country heavily reliant on coal for power generation, electric plug-in vehicles will not result in a decrease in green house gas emissions.
“Reduction in CO2 emissions depend on generating electricity used to charge the vehicles from lower-emission sources of energy,” GAO reported.
“For plug-ins to reach their full potential, electricity would need to be generated from lower-emission fuels such as nuclear and renewable energy rather than the fossil fuels--coal and natural gas--used most often to generate electricity today.”
In an attempt to encourage the development and manufacturing of “plug-in” electric vehicles, the government has allocated $300 million from the economic stimulus funding to the General Services Administration (GSA) to acquire fuel-
efficient vehicles. These funds must be spent by 2011.
The GAO report pointed out that the stimulus law also establishes a tax credit for consumers for the purchase of plug-in cars--up to $2,500 for two-wheeled, three-wheeled, and low-speed plug-in cars. But the report cites results from a study showing that “if plug-in hybrids reached 56 percent of the cars on the road by 2030, they would require an increased electricity production, much of which would likely come from additional coal plants.”
The government watchdog said that adjustments would need to be made, such as building new nuclear plants and developing technology so that fossil fuel plants will be equipped to capture and store carbon dioxide (CO2). “However, new nuclear plants and renewable energy sources can be controversial and expensive,” the report noted.
(Editors note: do you know what makes all your soda pop fizzy and gives it its appeal? You got it! CO2!!!! Think about all those cans of pop, beer and such. And think about all those big and little plastic bottles full of good old fizzy CO2! How many tons of CO2 are we releasing into the atmosphere every day. Outside of the fact that this GLOBAL WARMING is a myth, are you willing to give up the comfort and travel ability of your auto? You want a tiny bucket that may seat 2 and only has three wheels. Perhaps one can walk to a vacation spot? Or are you going to give up your fizz? After all CO2 is the greenhouse gas the liberals are screaming about. Make them put their money where their mouth is or make them get out of dodge. Get rid of THE AXIS OF IDIOTS. -(see 1st edition or contact for a copy.
While not a mandate integration of plug-in hybrid cars into federal vehicle fleets. The GAO report, while remaining supportive of the goal, pointed out the difficulties in achieving plug-in integration. “Developing policy or incentives to encourage consume buyers to buy plug-ins only in regions with low-carbon energy sources could be difficult and may not correspond with manufacturers’ business plans,” reported the GAO.
16
Another impediment to the success of plug-in cars, is the high cost of lithium-ion batteries. The GAO report noted that in order for plug-in cars to be cost effective they must be relatively inexpensive compared to gas. “Research suggests that for plug-ins to be cost-effective relative to gasoline vehicles the price of batteries must come down significantly and gasoline prices must be high relative to electricity,” the report said..
Gaffigan told CNSNews.com that $2 billion of the Recovery Act funds are being expended for grants to manufacture plug- in batteries, and the money is not limited to lithium-ion batteries. But Gaffigan also explained that this particular impediment would not go away just because the government threw a lot
of money at it.
“At the end of the day, if gasoline is still relatively cheap compared to the other alternatives, there is just not going to be that kind of motivation for the market place to develop something else,”
Gaffigan told CNSNews.com. Furthermore, foreign dependency on lithium could take the place of dependency on petroleum. “The United States has supplies of lithium, but if demand for lithium exceeded domestic supplies, or if lithium from overseas is less expensive, the United States could substitute reliance
on one foreign resource (oil) for another (lithium),” warned the GAO. “Yes, it is a very real possibility,” Gaffigan confirmed when CNSNews.com asked about the possibility of lithium dependency.
To make matters worse, while lithium-ion batteries are attractive because they produce insignificant levels of toxic waste, the extraction of lithium could have harmful environmental consequences. “Extracting lithium from locations where it is abundant, such as South America, could pose environmental challenges that would damage the ecosystems in this area,” the GAO report pointed out.

Alert!! - H.R. 1388 was passed yesterday
Whether you are an Obama fan, or not, EVERYONE IN THE U. S. needs to know....Something happened... H.R. 1388 was passed yesterday, behind our backs. You may want to read about it. It wasn't mentioned on the news... just went by on the ticker tape at the bottom of the CNN screen.
Obama funds $20M in tax payer dollars to immigrate Hamas Refugees to the USA . This is the news that didn't make the headlines...
By executive order, President Barack Obama has ordered the expenditure of $20.3 million in "migration assistance" to the Palestinian refugees and "conflict victims" in Gaza .
The "presidential determination", which allows hundreds of thousands of Palestinians with ties to Hamas to resettle in the United States , was signed on January 27 and appeared in the Federal Register on February 4.
Few on capitol Hill, or in the media, took note that the order provides a free ticket replete with housing and food allowances to individuals who have displayed their overwhelming support to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in the parliamentary election of January 2006.
Let's review...itemized list of some of Barack Obama's most recent actions since his inauguration: His first call to any head of state, as president, was to Mahmoud Abbas, leader of Fatah party in the Palestinian territory. His first one-on-one television interview with any news organization was with Al Arabia television. His first executive order was to fund/facilitate abortion(s) not just here within the U. S. , but within the world, using U. S. tax payer funds. He ordered Guantanamo Bay closed and all military trials of detainees halted. He ordered overseas CIA interrogation centers closed. He withdrew all charges against the masterminds behind the USS Cole and the "terror attack" on 9/11.
Now we learn that he is allowing hundreds of thousands of Palestinian refuges to move to, and live in, the US at American taxpayer expense.
These important, and insightful, issues are being "lost" in the blinding bail-outs and "stimulation" packages.
Doubtful? To verify this for yourself: www.thefederalregister.com/d.p/2009-02-04-E9-2488 PLEASE PASS THIS ON. AMERICA NEEDS TO KNOW WE are losing this country at a rapid pace

would be worth it. But, what if, despite these extreme measures, the black market still functioned — as it almost always does, when there is sufficient demand? It's time to seriously revisit our strategy for a gun-free world. Maybe there's a shortcut around all of this.
Okay. We're going to make a truly radical, no-holds-barred proposal this time, take a quantum leap in science, and go where no man has gone before. There may be those who scoff at our proposal, but it can succeed where all other strategies have failed.
We, Kopel, Gallant, and Eisen, hereby imagine that, from this day forth, the laws of chemical combustion are revoked. We hereby imagine that gunpowder — and all similar compounds — no longer have the capacity to burn and release the gases necessary to propel a bullet. Peace for Our Time
Finally, for the first time, a gun-free world is truly within our grasp — and it's time to see what man hath wrought. And for that, all we have to do is take a look back at the kind of world our ancestors lived in. To say that life in the pre-gunpowder world was violent would be an understatement. Land travel, especially over long distances, was fraught with danger from murderers, robbers, and other criminals. Most women couldn't protect themselves from rape, except by granting unlimited sexual access to one male in exchange A World Without Guns
Be forewarned: It’s not a pretty picture
By Dave Kopel, Paul Gallant, and Joanne Eisen of the Independence Institute
December 5, 2001 9:40 a.m.
"Imagine the world without guns" was a bumper sticker that began making the rounds after the murder of ex-Beatle John Lennon on December 18, 1980. Last year, Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, followed up on that sentiment by announcing she would become a spokeswoman for Handgun Control, Inc. (which later changed its name to the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, and which was previously named the National Council to Control Handguns).
So let's try hard to imagine what a world without guns would look like. It isn't hard to do. But be forewarned: It's not a pretty picture.
The way to get to a gun-free world, the gun-prohibition groups tell us, is to pass laws banning them. We can begin by imagining the enactment of laws which ban all non-government possession of
18
firearms. It's not likely that local bans will do the job. Take, for example, New York's 1911 Sullivan Law, which imposed an exceedingly restrictive handgun-licensing scheme on New York City. In recent decades, administrative abuses have turned the licensing statute into what amounts to prohibition, except for tenacious people who navigate a deliberately obstructive licensing system.
Laws affect mainly those willing to obey them. And where there's an unfulfilled need — and money to be made — there's usually a way around the law. Enter the black market, which flourishes all the more vigorously with ever-increasing restrictions and prohibitions. In TV commercials that aired last August, New York City Republican (sort of) mayoral candidate Mike Bloomberg informed voters that "in 1993, there were as many as 2 million illegal guns on the street." The insinuation was that all those guns were in the hands of criminals, and the implication was that confiscating the guns would make the city a safer place. What Bloomberg never explained was how he planned to shut down the black market. So let's imagine, instead, a nationwide gun ban, or maybe even a worldwide ban.
Then again, heroin and cocaine have been illegal in the United States, and most of the world, for nearly a century. Huge resources have been devoted to suppressing their production, sale, and use, and many innocent people have been sacrificed in the crossfire of the "drug war." Yet heroin and cocaine are readily available on the streets of almost all large American cities, and at prices that today are lower than in previous decades.
Perhaps a global prohibition law isn't good enough. Maybe imposing the harshest penalty possible for violation of such a law will give it real teeth: mandatory life in prison for possession of a
gun, or even for possession of a single bullet. (We won't imagine the death penalty, since the Yoko crowd doesn't like the death penalty.)
On second thought, Jamaica's Gun Court Act of 1974 contained just such a penalty, and even that wasn't sufficient. On August 18, 2001, Jamaican Melville Cooke observed that today, "the only people who do not have an illegal firearm [in this country], are those who do not want one." Violent crime in Jamaica is worse than ever, as gangsters and trigger-happy police commit homicides with impunity, and only the law-abiding are disarmed. Yet the Jamaican government wants to globalize its failed policy. In July 2001, Burchell Whiteman, Jamaica's Minister of Education, Youth and Culture spoke at the U.N. Disarmament Conference to demand the "implementation of measures that would limit the production of weapons to levels that meet the needs for defense and national security."
And as long as governments are allowed to have guns, there will be gun factories to steal from. Some of these factories might have adequate security measures to prevent theft, including theft by employees. But in a world with about 200 nations, most of them governed by kleptocracies, it's preposterous to imagine that some of those "government-only" factories won't become suppliers for the black market. Alternatively, corrupt military and police could supply firearms to the black market.
We'd better revise our strategy. Rather than wishing for laws (which cannot, even imaginably, create a gun-free world), let's be more ambitious, and imagine that all guns vanish. Even guns possessed by government agents. And let's close all the gun factories, too. That ought to put the black market out of business. Voilà! Instant peace! Back to the Drawing Board.
Then again.....it's not very difficult to make a workable firearm. As J. David Truby points out in his book Zips, Pipes, and Pens: Arsenal of Improvised Weapons, "Today, all of the improvised/modified designs [of firearms] remain well within the accomplishment of the mechanically unskilled citizen who does not have access to firearms through other means."
In the article "Gun-Making as a Cottage Industry," Charles Chandler observed that Americans "have a reputation as ardent hobbyists and do-it-yourselfers, building everything from ship models to home improvements." The one area they have not been very active in is that of firearm construction. And that, Chandler explained, is only because "well-designed and well-made firearms are generally available as items of commerce."
A complete gun ban, or highly restrictive licensing amounting to near-ban, would create a real incentive for gun making to become a "cottage industry". It's already happening in Great Britain, a consequence of the complete ban on civilian possession of handguns imposed by the Firearms Act of 1997. Not only are the Brits swamped today with illegally imported firearms, but local, makeshift gun factories have sprung up to compete. British police already know about some of them. Officers from Scotland Yard's Metropolitan Police Serious Crime Group South recently recovered 12 handgun replicas which were converted to working models. An auto repair shop in London served as the front for the novel illegal gun
19
factory. Police even found some enterprising gun-makers turning screwdrivers into workable firearms, and producing firearms disguised as ordinary key rings. In short, closing the Winchester Repeating Arms factory — and all the others — will not spell the end of the firearm business.
Just take the case of Bougainville, the largest island in the South Pacific's Solomon Islands chain. Bougainville was the site of a bloody, decade-long secessionist uprising against domination by the government of Papua New Guinea, aided and abetted by the Australian government. The conflict there was the longest-running confrontation in the Pacific since the end of World War II, and caused the deaths of 15,000 to 20,000 islanders. During the hostilities, which included a military blockade of the island, one of the goals was to deprive the Bougainville Revolutionary Army (BRA) of its supply of arms. The tactic failed: the BRA simply learned how to make its own guns using materiel and ammunition left over from the War. In fact, at the United Nations Asia Pacific Regional Disarmament Conference held in Spring 2001, it was quietly admitted that the BRA, within ten years of its formation, had managed to manufacture a production copy of the M16 automatic rifle and other machine guns. (That makes one question the real intent behind the U.N. Conference on the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All its Aspects, which followed several months later: the U.N. leadership can't be so daft as to fail to recognize the implications for world disarmament after learning of the success of the Bougainville Revolutionary Army.) If this single island of Bougainville can produce its own weapons, the Philippine Islands have long had a thriving cottage industry to manufacture firearms — despite very restrictive gun laws imposed by the Marcos dictatorship and some other regimes. It looks like we'll need to revisit our fantasy, yet again.
Okay. By proclamation of Kopel, Gallant, and Eisen, not only do all firearms — every last one of
them — vanish instantly, but there shall be no further remanufacturing.
That last part's a bit tricky. Auto repair shops, hobbyists, revolutionaries — everyone with decent machine shop skills — can make a gun from something. This takes us down the same road as drug prohibition: With primary anti-drug laws having proven themselves unenforceable, secondary laws have been added to prohibit possession of items which could be used to manufacture drugs. Even making suspicious purchases at a gardening store can earn one a "dynamic entry" visit from the local SWAT team.
But laws proscribing the possession of gun-manufacturing items would have to be even broader than laws against possession of drug-manufacturing items, because there are so many tools which can be used to make guns, or be made into guns. What we'd really have to do is carefully control every possible step in the gun-making process. That means the registration of all machine tools, and the federal licensing of plumbers (similar to current federal licensure of pharmacies), auto mechanics, and all those handymen with their screwdrivers. And we'd need to stamp a serial number on pipes (potential gun barrels) in every bathroom and automobile — and everywhere else one finds pipes — and place all the serial numbers in a federal registry.
Today, the antigun lobbies who claim they don't want to ban all guns still insist that registration of every single gun and licensing of every gun owner is essential to keep guns from falling into the wrong hands. If so, it's hard to argue that licensing and registration of gun manufacturing items would not be essential to prevent illicit production of guns. Thus, we would have to control every part of the manufacturing process. That would add up to a very expensive, complicated proposition. Even a 1% noncompliance rate with the "Firearms Precursors Control Act" would leave an immense supply of materials available for black-market gun making. In order to ensure total conformity with the act, it's difficult to imagine leaving most existing constitutional protections in place. The mind boggles at the kinds of search and seizure laws required to make certain that people do not possess unregistered metal pipes or screwdrivers! For example, just to enforce a ban on actual guns (not gun precursors), the Jamaican government needed to wipe out many common law controls on police searches, and many common law guarantees of fair trials. We'd have to trash the Constitution in order to completely prevent a black market in gun precursors from taking hold. Still, as the gun-prohibition lobby always says, if it saves just one life, it for protection from other males.
Back then, weapons depended on muscle power. Advances in weaponry primarily magnified the effect of muscle power. The stronger one is, the better one's prospects for fighting up close with an edged weapon like a sword or a knife, or at a distance with a bow or a javelin (both of which require strong arms). The superb ability of such "old-fashioned" edged weapons to inflict carnage 8, 2001, by former school clerk Mamoru Takuma in gun-free Osaka, Japan. When it comes to muscle power, young men usually win over women, children, and the elderly. It was warriors who dominated society in gun-free feudal Europe, and a
20
weak man usually had to resign himself to settle on a life of toil and obedience in exchange for a place within the castle walls when evil was afoot.
And what of the women? According to the custom of jus primae noctis, a lord had the right to sleep with the bride of a newly married serf on the first night — a necessary price for the serf to pay — in exchange for the promise of safety and security (does that ring a bell?). Not uncommonly, this arrangement didn't end with the wedding night, since one's lord had the practical power to take any woman, any time. Regardless of whether jus primae noctis was formally observed in a region, rich, strong men had little besides their conscience to stop them from having their way with women who weren't protected by another wealthy strongman.
But there's yet another problem with imagining gunpowder out of existence: We get rid of firearms, but we don't get rid of guns. With the advent of the blow gun some 40,000 years ago, man discovered the efficacy of a tube for concentrating air power and aiming a missile, making the eventual appearance of airguns inevitable. So gunpowder or no gunpowder, all we've been doing, thus far, amounts to quibbling over the means for propelling something out of a tube.
Airguns date back to somewhere around the beginning of the 17th century. And we don't mean airguns like the puny Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun with a compass in the stock, longed for by Ralphie in Jean Shepard's 1984 classic A Christmas Story ("No, Ralphie, you can't have a BB gun — you'll shoot your eye out!").
No, we're talking serious lethality here. The kind of powder-free gun that can hurl a 7.4 oz. projectile with a muzzle energy of 1,082 foot-pounds. Compare that to the 500 foot-pounds of muzzle energy from a typical .357 Magnum round! Even greater projectile energies are achievable using gases like nitrogen or helium, which create higher pressures than air does.
Before the advent of self-contained powder cartridge guns, airguns were considered serious weapons. In fact, three hundred years ago, air-powered guns were among the most powerful and accurate large-bore rifles around. While their biggest disadvantages were cost and intricacy of manufacture, they were more dependable and could be fired more rapidly than firearms of the same period. A butt-reservoir .31 airgun was carried by Lewis and Clark on their historic expedition, and used successfully for taking game. [See Robert D. Beeman, "Proceeding On to the Lewis & Clark Airgun," Airgun Revue 6 (2000): 13-33.] Airguns even saw duty in military engagements more than 200 years ago. Today, fully automatic M-16-style airguns are a reality. It was only because of greater cost relative to powder guns, and the greater convenience afforded by powder arms, that airgun technology was never pushed to its lethal limits. Other non-powder weapon systems have competed for man's attention, as well. The 20th century was the bloodiest century in the history of mankind. And while firearms were used for killing (for example, with they were hardly essential. By far, the greatest number of deliberate killings occurred during the genocides and democides perpetrated by governments against disarmed populations. The instruments of death ranged from Zyklon B gas to machetes to starvation.
Imagine No Claws. To imagine a world with no guns is to imagine a world in which the strong rule the weak, in which women are dominated by men, and in which minorities are easily abused or mass-murdered by majorities. Practically speaking, a firearm is the only weapon that allows a weaker person to defend himself from a larger, stronger group of attackers, and to do so at a distance. As George Orwell observed, a weapon like a rifle "gives claws to the weak."
The failure of imagination among people who yearn for a gun-free world is their naive assumption that getting rid of claws will get rid of the desire to dominate and kill. They fail to acknowledge the undeniable fact that when the weak are deprived of claws (or firearms), the strong will have access to other weapons, including sheer muscle power. A gun-free world would be much more dangerous for women, and much safer for brutes and tyrants.
The one society in history that successfully gave up firearms was Japan in the 17th century, as detailed in Noel Perrin's superb book Giving Up the Gun: Japan's Reversion to the Sword 1543-1879. An isolated island with a totalitarian dictatorship, Japan was able to get rid of the guns. Historian Stephen Turnbull summarizes the result: [The dictator] Hidéyoshi's resources were such that the edict was carried out to the letter. The growing social mobility of peasants was thus flung suddenly into reverse. The ikki, the warrior-monks, became figures of the past . . . Hidéyoshi had deprived the peasants of their weapons. Iéyasu [the next ruler] now began to deprive them of their self respect. If a peasant offended a samurai he might be cut down on the spot by the samurai's sword. [The Samurai: A Military History (New York: Macmillan,
21
1977).] The inferior status of the peasantry having been affirmed by civil disarmament, the Samurai enjoyed kiri-sute gomen, permission to kill and depart. Any disrespectful member of the lower class could be executed by a Samurai's sword. The Japanese disarmament laws helped mold the culture of submission to authority which facilitated Japan's domination by an imperialist military dictatorship in the 1930s, which led the nation into a disastrous world war. In short, the one country that created a truly gun-free society created a society of harsh class oppression, in which the strongmen of the upper class could kill the lower classes with impunity. When a racist, militarist, imperialist government took power, there was no effective means of resistance. The gun-free world of Japan turned into just the opposite of the gentle, of John Lennon's song "Imagine."
Instead of imagining a world without a particular technology, what about imagining a world in which the human heart grows gentler, and people treat each other decently? This is part of the vision of many of the world's great religions. Although we have a long way to go, there is no denying that hundreds of millions of lives have changed for the better because people came to believe what these religions teach. If a truly peaceful world is attainable — or, even if unattainable, worth striving for — there is nothing to be gained from the futile attempt to eliminate all guns. A more worthwhile result can flow from the changing of human hearts, one soul at a time.

This is the much delayed reply I got to my question about obummers citizenship. It is obvious that this man has been bought by the opposition. he needs seriously to not be re-elected. Ralph Hall's ‘whatever’ replied but didn't say anything at all. He needs to be changed out also as is all the rest of our congressmen. LET US MAKE IT SO!!!!

Subject : FW: Thank You For Contacting My Office
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Cline: Thank you for contacting me regarding President Barack Obama. I appreciate having the benefit of your comments on this matter. (I did not comment, I asked a question) As you know, on January 20, 2009, Barack Obama was sworn in as the forty-fourth President of the United States of America. As the 111th Congress begins, our nation faces many challenges. We are in the midst of tough economic times, and the federal government must stand on the side of taxpayers and small businesses. Now more than ever, we need fiscal discipline in Washington. I welcome President Obama’s commitment to reform the federal budget process and rein in wasteful government spending, and I will hold the President accountable as Congress works to quickly identify and eliminate inefficient, ineffective, and outdated federal programs.
Families across Texas and the nation are forced to make tough financial decisions each day—the federal government should be no different. But year after year too many government programs are funded because there are small—but vocal—special interest groups backing them with little Congressional oversight to determine when ideas have run their course. The American people have a right to know how their hard earned dollars are being spent, and I will continue to support making our government more transparent, accountable, and efficient. (this is a lie-see other)
While strengthening the economy must remain a priority, we must also find bipartisan solutions to address other critical issues facing our nation while continuing to advance conservative principles such as limited government, lower taxes, family values, and fighting against those who seek to destroy the American way of life. The consequences of continued inaction are too great. It is imperative that Congress act quickly to secure our borders, reform our country’s immigration laws, modernize healthcare, and promote energy independence. You may be certain that I will continue to pursue conservative, common-sense initiatives that reinforce the principles upon which our country was founded while holding the new Administration accountable to the American people.
I appreciate the opportunity to represent Texans in the United States Senate. Thank you for taking the time to contact me.
Sincerely, JOHN CORNYN
United S tates Senator

Windfall Tax on Retirement Income
Adding a tax to your retirement is simply another way of saying to the American people, you're so darn stupid that we're going to keep doing this until we drain every cent from you. That's what the Speaker of the House is saying. Read below.................
Nancy Pelosi wants a Windfall Tax on Retirement Income. In other words tax what you have made by investing toward your retirement. This woman is a nut case! You aren't going to believe this. Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement fund, 401K and Mutual Funds! Alas, it is true - all to help the 12 Million Illegal Immigrants and other unemployed Minorities! This woman is frightening. She quotes...' We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income, (didn't Marx say something like this?), in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest.' (I am not rich, are you?)
When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied: “We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities.. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as Americans.” (Read that quote again and again and let it sink in.) 'Lower your retirement, give it to others who have not worked as you have for it'.
Send it on to your friends. I just did!! This lady is out of her mind and she is the speaker of the house!

THE AXIS OF IDIOTS J.D. Pendry
J.D. Pendry is a retired Marine Sergeant who writes for Random House. He is eloquent, and he seldom beats around the bush.
Jimmy Carter, you are the father of the Islamic Nazi movement. You threw the Shah under the bus, welcomed the Ayatollah home, and then lacked the spine to confront the terrorists when they took our embassy and our people hostage. You’re the runner-in-chief.
Bill Clinton, you played ring around the Lewinski while the terrorists were at war with us. You got us into a fight with them in Somalia and then you ran from it. Your weak-willed responses to the USS Cole and the first Trade Center bombing and our Embassy bombings emboldened the killers. Each time you failed to respond adequately, they grew bolder, until 9/11/2001.
John Kerry, dishonesty is your most prominent attribute. You lied about American Soldiers in Vietnam. Your military service, like your life, is more fiction than fact. You’ve accused our military of terrorizing women and children in Iraq. You called Iraq the wrong war, wrong place, wrong time, the same words you used to describe Vietnam. You’re a fake. You want to run from Iraq and abandon the Iraqis to murderers just as you did the Vietnamese. Iraq, like Vietnam, is another war you were for, before you were against it.
John Murtha, you said our military was broken. You said we can’t win militarily in Iraq. You accused United States Marines of cold-blooded murder without proof and said we should redeploy to Okinawa. Okinawa, John? And the democrats call you their military expert! Are you sure you didn’t suffer a traumatic brain injury while you were of building your war hero resume? You’re a sad, pitiable, corrupt and washed up politician. You’re not a Marine , sir. You wouldn’t amount to a good pimple on a real Marines ass. You’re a phony and a disgrace. Run away, John.
Dick Durbin, you accused our Soldiers at Guantanamo of being Nazis, tenders to Soviet style Gulags and as bad as the regime of Pol Pot, who murdered two million of his own people after your party abandoned Southeast Asia to the Communists. Now you want to abandon the Iraqis to the same fate. History was not a good teacher for you, was it? Lord help us! See Dick run.
Ted Kennedy, for days on end you held poster sized pictures from Abu Ghraib in front of any available television camera. Al Jazeera quoted you saying that Iraqi’s torture chambers were opened under new management. Did you see the news, Teddy? The Islamic Nazis demonstrated another beheading for
23
you. If you truly supported our troops, you’d show the world poster sized pictures of that atrocity and demand the annihilation of it. Your legislation stripping support from the South Vietnamese led to the communist victory there. You’re a bloated, drunken fool bent on repeating the same historical blunder that turned freedom seeking people over to homicidal, genocidal maniacs. To paraphrase John Murtha, all the while sitting on your wide, gin soaked rear end in Washington.
Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Carl Levine, Barbara Boxer, Diane Feinstein, Russ Feingold, Hillary
Clinton, Pat Leahy, Barrack Obama, chuck Schumer, the Hollywood Leftist morons, et al, ad nauseam: every time you stand in front of television cameras and broadcast to the Islamic Nazis that we went to war because our President lied, that the war is wrong and our soldiers are torturers, that we should leave Iraq you give the Islamic butchers - the same ones that tortured and mutilated American Soldiers - cause to think that we’ll run away again, and all they have to do is hang on a little longer. It is inevitable that we, the infidels, will have to defeat the Islamic Jihadists. Better to do it now on their turf, than later on ours after they have gained both strength and momentum.
American news media, the New York Times particularly: each time you publish stories about national defense secrets and our intelligence gathering methods you become one united with the sub-human pieces of camel dung that torture and mutilate the bodies of American Soldiers. You can’t strike up the courage to publish cartoon, but you can help Al Quaeda destroy my country. Actually, you are more dangerous to us than Al Quaeda is. Think about that each time you face Mecca to admire your Pulitzer…
You are America’s “AXIS OF IDIOTS.” your collective stupidity will destroy us. Self-serving politics and terrorist-abetting news scoops are more important to you than our national security or the lives of innocent civilians and Soldiers. It bothers you that defending ourselves gets in the way of your elitist sport of politics and your ignorant editorializing.
Yes, I’m questioning your patriotism. Your loyalty ends with self. I’m also questioning why you’re stealing air that decent Americans could be breathing. You don’t deserve the protection of our men and women in uniform. You need to run away from this war, this country. Leave the war to the people who have the will to see it through and the country to the people who are willing to defend it.
No, Mr. President, you don’t get off the hook either. Our country has two enemies: those who want to destroy us from the outside and those who attempt it from within. Your soldiers are dealing with the outside force. It’s your obligation to support them by confronting the AXIS OF IDIOTS. America must hear it from you that these self -centered people are harming our country, abetting the enemy and endangering our safety. Well up a little anger, please, and channel it toward the appropriate target. You must prosecute those who leak national security secrets to the media. You must prosecute those in the media who knowingly publish those secrets. Our soldiers need you to confront the enemy that they cannot. They need you to do it now.
(This was written and published about the time that the last presidential campaign began if not before. Our studies show that it is factual. There is many more facts not expressed in this article however, or at least partially. All of the people described as “THE AXIS OF IDIOTS” were in fact screaming FOR war in Iraq long before it became a fact. When President Bush entered us into that war, it suddenly became a no-no. I personally know this for a fact because I was very interested in what was going on and had been for some time. I fully agree with the portrayal of the character of each and every one of the people portrayed in this article. If I had my way every one of you traitorous scheming idiots would be in front of a firing squad where you belong. Get out of dodge, you are not wanted!!!! You are traitors and the enemy of my beloved country!)

It has been said the greatest volume of sheer brainpower in one place occurred when Jefferson dined alone... HOW DID JEFFERSON KNOW??? Especially read the last quote from 1802.
When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe. Thomas Jefferson
The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not. Thomas Jefferson
It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world. Thomas Jefferson
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. Thomas Jefferson
My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.
Thomas Jefferson
No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. Thomas Jefferson
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government. Thomas Jefferson
The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. Thomas Jefferson
To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical. Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.'

And so we come to the end of the second edition of the infamous Sheep Dog Rag. I hope you enjoyed the words of wit found here and were educated a bit as to the very real danger that we believe our country is in.
There was a gospel song that we sang in Choir more than 20 years ago that was based on some passages in Revelations I believe. It was titled “I wish we’d all been ready” As I remember, it dealt with the rapture. Remembering partially the lyrics I am both in fear and am comforted. According to prophesy interpretations it seems possible that the time is near. So I wonder at the times we now face.
What I do know, however is that we are going down the drain if we do not do something. Our illegal president is very busy bankrupting our country. He bows down to and hobnobs with our enemies. He wishes to make a socialist country out of our beloved democracy. Our neighbors and friends implore us to do something. We are the last baston of freedom in the world today. If we go down the tube everyone else goes with us. We are the only ones standing between them and Islam. Is Islam the anti-Christ spoken of in the bible? I do not know, but I do know that Islam is just the opposite of Christianity in all of its teachings. Look up the Quaran on your search engine and read it. Tell me if I am wrong. Thank you for reading this. LOVE!
